Packie is the only thing I haven't heard of.

Package store. Sells booze.

In CT you can get anything in a packie...beer, wine, spirits, hard liquor...

One stop shopping, unlike some other states.

:logical:

Ours is called a supermarket..

Heck in a few years Safeway will probably be selling cannabis in California...

You can buy liquor in your supermarkets?

:O

I love in my town, there's a large packie right next to Stop & Shop...everything you need right together...

:logical:

Is this sarcasm or reality...

I've never lived anywhere else. Can you honestly not buy liquor at the supermarket?

In CT you can buy beer, things like Mike's Hard Lemonade, Smirnoff Coolers, and the like in supermarkets, but everything else is in the liquor or package stores. State law is alcohol sales end at 9pm (used to be 8pm).

In Pennsylvania? Oy! You have to buy beer at a beer store, or at a bar or restaurant...hard stuff at a liquor store...but I think you can buy wine in a supermarket.

:logical:

Wow... A very different world.

Safeway is open 24/7 and I can get it all. (Not much of a drinker since my twenties drifted on though...)

Thanks for the education! So...what about this one then?

You know what an "Italian" is, and also know that it is best when you order it "In the oven"

I'm presuming it's an Italian Grinder/hoagie/hero/call it what you will, what Subway calls a BMT, Salami, Pepperoni & Ham, toasted.

Then again, it could be a meatball or sausage grinder with cheese...Corwin's from Boston...I live much closer to New York City.

:logical:

The perfect grinder is made with a crusty bread. Meat is a soft salami, Provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, olive oil, salt, pepper, red pepper, and a little oregano. Absolutely NO mayonnaise.

In the oven means just that, about five or six minutes. Most sub places here in the Boston area are also pizza shops, so a nice quick trip through the pizza oven makes it nice and toasty.

Not Quiznos toasty, real toasty, from a real oven, not a conveyor belt.

Great with a side of potato chips and a Coke.

BTW the rules about supermarkets not being allowed to sell booze, in MA, are based on local cities and towns, and the fact that companies can only have a limited number if licences .

Stop & Shop in Malden sells all kinds of booze, prices are not too bad, but selection is weak.

stupid blue laws in New England restricting alcohol sales.

Meh, just means better planning ahead. In my area, if we need beer on a Sunday, we just run down I-95 to Port Chester, NY, or go over I-84 into Brewster...

:logical:

Not too bad here but Mass is really bad.

You would think with all those Kennedy's out there...

Oh well, you never can tell.

24/7 You can tell you're in the right place because of this guy

What do you find more in Boston, Corwin, Italian pizza or Greek pizza?

:logical:

A bit of both really, with Italian taking a slight edge.

Worst of all, here in CT when I am at Trader Joe's I can't buy two buck chuck.

Stupid, stupid laws here.

An awesome list... Though as a California... I didn't understand ANY of it!

Honestly I even tried to make a few of these make sense (what's a basement!! )but this is the only one that works for me..

"the speed limit on the highway is 55 mph -- you're going 80, and everybody is passing you."

That might be universal!

My experience in California was that if the speed limit was 55, everyone was going 15, but that was LA, where if the freeway is moving at 20 mph, you're really speeding along.

:(

Here in Michigan, Two-Buck Chuck is Three-Buck Chuck.    Michigan has laws that only distributors can move alchohol in or out of the state, so TJ's has to pay a local distributor to ship the wine to their store.

Still a deal at $3.

I've gotten out of my car and walked on the 405 in the LA freeway system.

Very strange to see 8 lanes each way at a dead stop.

I hail from Northern Cal... it's not AS bad up here yet.
