I just got seasons 1-7 in the green box set and its rather shabby, the disk holders are held together with packing tape and they easily come apart.  I was unimpressed with the extras and the way the box set was packaged.

That's how the studios maximize their profits.

1. release a barebones edition
2. release a special edition
3. release a 20th, 25th, or 30th edition
4. release a collector's edition
5. release the ultimate edition

It's not just you, it's pretty shabby.

It's a POS, like 90% of what Paramount has released in the past.

The TOS bluray disks (which are CBS now) are acutally the best home video Trek product I've bought in a while.

Still, I love my TNG DVD box set. All I really care about is "can I watch the episodes."

The packaging and extras are secondary.

The box sets I have for all the shows are not too bad, but as Vger23 says the Blu-Ray packaging really is a step up for Trek.

I got the really cool box sets that have the silver and the color strip on them but i think that they should have episode guides inside.
