Now here's a question to you technical whizzes. Is the original 1701 big enough to house 420+ permanent crew? Other than the Officers, who obviously have their own quarters, what is the normal number of regular crew to a cabin? Is it done in shifts like on a submarine, so that more than one crewmember shares a particular bunk?

I've always wondered about this stuff, just never asked. :)

NEATO QUESTION!

Maybe the Franz Joseph blueprints can answer it for us.

Let me get a little drunker then I'll pull them out and see if I can spot anything that might help us.

If not, maybe the original tech manual?? If not, I defer to the TUC refit where they had bunks and stuff... maybe that's how it was originally, too.

That would be so cool, maybe I should get drunk too

There's a quick shot in TUC which shows crew men falling out of bunk beds during an attack, the room looks a lot like a submarine sleeping area.  Probably N. Meyer's idea as he liked the idea of Enterprise being similar to a sub.

Chron: Change [image] to [img].

Is this the same on Bax posted recently?

EDIT: Never mind, it's working. Looks based on the old Franz Josef blueprints.

Try this:

It's a png file...probably won't work trying to post it as an image.

:logical:

Sorry for nit picking SB, but this one doesn't (seem) to show the turbo lifts connecting to the drive section from the bridge.

That's not an actual cutaway, just a hippy paint job. :logical:

You mean you didn't build the thing, then print off some schematics to be used as space porn?   :p

That's because when the turblifts move back toward the engineering section they cover up the impulse engines. For what ever reason they decided to show the impulse engines. thats all.

Darn 2d picture

Just in case you didn't see my earlier reply,  TUC shows crew sleeping quarters that do look a lot like sleeping quarters on submarines.

I love the swimming pool under the Shuttle bay in the B&W cutaway. However, I don't see where the transporters are located in any of the drawings. Any body know where they are?
