Hey guys this thread is about Neelix not Kes read the title of the thread....

Was there any reason why Neelix had to leave with only a handful of episodes to go, it seemed kind of strange, unless that is the way it was planned from the beginning.  It jjst seemed rarther convenient that thousands of light years from where the caretaker dropped them off that there was a Talaxian settlement.

I think they had Nellix leave two shows before the end so that they could have him remain in the DQ.  They knew the show was ending and they wanted to give his character a graceful exit and not get stuck in the AQ.

I actually think it was pretty well done IMO.  The scene in the corridor came across as pretty touching.

How so?

I always liked Neelix aside from maybe his first episode or two.

He is a paranoid schizo, a blatant liar, always butts in where he isn't wanted, and frankly is the most annoying character in all of scifi even more so than jar jar binks of star wars.

Yup. I hate it when he butts in uninvited. I really don't see the relevant of his character. Why would you need a chef when the replicators can do the work?

Did you even watch the show?

Yes, I still cannot see the relevance of his character to the show.

They had to conserve energy.. they couldn't just replicate all the vittles they wanted. They had to grow their own and scavenge for more.

Neelix just happened to be the most knowledgeable in the are of D-quadrant edibles and how to fix them.... so why not?

He was pretty damm valuable at helping people not to starve and to not eat poison plants because of lack of knowledge of the local foodstuff.

That and natives of the Delta Quaderant didn't trust Voyager, having Borg, Hirogen & Vidiians everywhere I can see how trust would be a rare thing to come by.

Neelix was Talaxian, a native of the quaderant. ¿
other natives of the Quad. wouldn't be suspicious having a Talaxian coming ariound asking for supplies. ¿People beaming down in military/Starfleet uniforms would cause a panic.  Voyager needed a cook because they couldn't store enough energy to feed the crew AND repair the ship using the replicator.

As you already stated Chronic, people would have to pay attention.

No more odd that a ship full of Klingons finding their way to the Delta Quad. in a vessel less advanced that the Equinox.

Besides, the lady Talaxian said they left Talax when she was a little girl. She's gotta be at least 30 in the ep. ¿Seems like a reasonable about of time to travel that far. ¿Seven also mentioned to Neelix in another ep. about the Borg assimilating part of a Talaxian convoy. ¿Could they be the same convoy of Talaxians? ¿

Looks like Voyager writers covered their tracks, too me.

Ok I guess it could make sense, conquered people in Trek seem to be all over the place in the Trek universe.

If they had to get rid of someone they should have gotten rid of Neelix. He was the main reason I wasn't too fond of Voyager.
