V'Ger or the Probe from TVH? Both of these 'villians' are just about the same when you think about it. Both on their way to Earth, both are untouchable. About the main difference besides cosmetic is we actually get a chance to see all the chaos and trouble the Probe causes on Earth and we see none of that when V'ger came to town. But I have to ask..who's the bigger bad @ss? V'Ger or The Probe?

V'Ger. If you've read "Music of the Spheres", the novel "The Probe" was supposed to be, you know that the Probe is simply confused. It's hard to consider something that's confused a bad ass.

Both had the ability to wipe all life out life on Earth,
What else the Probe was capable of is unknown from what was show on screen.
V'ger on the other hand was going around reducing thing to data storage, and was purposely posing itself to destroy all life on Earth because humans were suppressing the Creator.
So currently for me, V'ger was more dangerous.

Neither. They're both pretty useless.

V`ger's cloud measured over 2 AU in diamer.

An AU = Astronomical Unit which is the mean distance between the earth and the sun.

Correct. However, in the original release they listed it as 82 AU's in diameter. Now that was a bit ridculous, but can you imagine how massive that would be? Back to the vote, I too went with Vger.

Either way, that was just the size of the energy cloud that V'Ger generated, not the size of the vessel that carried Voyager 6...

The vessel was something like 5 kilometers long, though one size chart I saw had the length at 98 kilometers.

:logical:

There is a line from Chief DiFalco toward the end of the movie, when the Enterprise is being tractored toward the Voyager 6 chamber.

"We are 17 kilometers inside the vessle."

So, it's AT LEAST that big, if not somewhat bigger, since the Enterprise had not reached it's destination at that point (and you'd have to assume that the chamber was not at the exact opposite end of the ship.)

I voted for V'Ger.

I went with V'Ger because with the Probe, it wanted something specific (to hear the whales) so, although getting the whales back into the sea of the current earth wasn't an easy task, all the way through, they KNEW exactly what they had to do.

You could also argue that the Probe could have been justified in wiping us out because we'd wiped out the whales...

Whereas V'Ger didn't know WHAT it wanted...it was confused, and that, to me, makes it far more dangerous.

V'Ger had the ability to, after having disabled Earth's entire defense grid, blanket the whole planet with a patterning array of the plasma-energy sphereoids, which would have acheived in moments what it would have taken the Probe a bit longer to acheive in ionizing the oceans, put at risk mankind's continuance on Earth. And the Probe was not the danger to other worlds, only to ships which got in range of its power-nullifying effect, as its interests were solely on the planet where the 'sentients'(to its own programming, as the non-canon book ''Probe'' tells us)it was created to protect were no longer, when it arrived to find this to be so. Maybe, we'll never know, it could have been a Guardian to other non-Terran aquatic forms of similar origin....

V'Ger is probably the biggest threat between these two
