Amazon.com is offering e-mail notifications when the blue-ray TNG & Voyager complete series will be released! Does anyone think they will be released in 2010? If so, why

I would hold off first. The movie has a habit of releasing bare bones edition first until they cannot milk it further. That's when the special or ultimate edition comes out. I do not own any of the Star Trek tv shows or movies. Because the moment I fork out $100 for an entire season, a new release is on the horizon.

They wont be worth buying. Not real HD at all. Just upconverted, which is what every PC has been capable of doing since day 1. Doing a real HD transfer from the original film reels too laborous since they would need to edit everything out again, basically working from scratch. This is as the editing was done to videotape, which has effectively poor resolution no better than EDTV. That's not too bad to do with movies since they are short. But when you're dealing with 26x7 episodes, it's different.

Oh, I'm sure there will be some new, true HD interview scenes with Frakes, Sirtis, and such filmed by a starving director in a hotel room in part of the production house. But that's not worth the money at all.
