You should read From Sawdust to Stardust. A biography about the late, great De Kelley.

Well, I had my suspicions for quite some time... all this did was prove it... unequivocally. ?

It really ####ed me up.. one of the guys would start to talk about something serious, then Shat would interupt with some of his bullshit that he thinks is funny, and ruin the whole moment because they never would get back on track after that.

I still love Shat, and I think he's came to a realisation over the years that yes, he can be an ass, but it's apparant that this knowledge doesn't stop him from continuing the legacy.

You really need to get the latest issue of Star Trek magazine. It celibrates the 30th anniversary of TMP.

Walter(Chekov) mentions how shatner didn't even remember his name when filming for TMP began.

Bloody weather has delayed the shipment of that issue of STM here.

I can't wait, I'm also ordering some of the other older non fictional accounts like "The World of Star Trek" and "The Making of Star Trek."

I have quite a few of the others like Shats two books "Star Trek MemorieS" and the David Alaexander GR biography, Nichelle Nicholles bio "Beyond Uhura" Nimoy's "I am not Spock." and "I Am Spock." among a few others.

I really like reading up on the real deal accounts of all the happenings of Star Trek.

All our favorite people Gene Roddenberry, Gene Coon, Freddy Freiberger, Matt Jeffries, Alexandar Courage, Harlan Ellison, Herb Solow, etc. etc. and their stories make for some interesting reading.

I have all of those except the Not Spock one. Haven't got around to reading them though. I have Walter's autobiography too, picked it up for 1.50 in the Forbidden Planet store in London last time I was there! But I really enjoyed the De Kelley bio though. Proves what a real gentleman he was.

Or, he pretended that he didn't remember his name.  A technique used to put others off balance and raise self-status.  Either way, a not so nice move.

^ That's another good reason for me as to why I don't read ST books.

1.  There are too, too many of them
2.  They aren't canon.
3.  It makes my head hurt to read

and now #4  They get things way way wrong

I had the Atlantic Ocean AND the entire North America continent in my way...  :(

I tell you, cheapest paper ever used for currency. I had a five euro in which a corner was torn, and not one shop would take it. I managed to get rid of it eventually though.

So yes, I'll give you pints for the dollar.

And has CM seen the Summit yet?

I dunno.

I'll drop some hints and maybe he'll watch it if he hasn't and come speak his part.

I also dropped some fishooks over in TOS trying to get some asses in seats in this gin joint...

Maybe we can turn THIS into the Captain's Summit for real!!
Afterall, the Captain Chronic and Captain SonosSpock are already choppin' it up on the regular. ¿:D ¿

Have you read Shatner's Memories of books?? I have them both, but he has at least two other biographical works out there that I know of... one of which actually came out last year.
There may also be a few unauthorized books out there, but as a generel rule thoses are usually not entirely inclusive, full of already well known info, more statistical than informative in some areas, and rarely contain bits of original material (very hard to find letters, notes, interviews, photographs, etc).

I'm on a mission to collect ALL of the original cast 'rememberances' some way or another. I have a pretty good jump with the two Shatner Books, Nimoy, and Nichol's main biographical works. I also have David Alexanders "Star Trek Creator" which is a must have.

I'm kinda treating this thread now as our regular meeting place!

These are the bio's I have:

SHATNER
ST Memories
ST Movie Memories

NIMOY:
I Am Spock

KELLEY:
From Sawdust to Stardust by Terry Lee Rioux

DOOHAN:
Beam me up, Scotty! (with Peter David)

TAKEI:
To the Stars (abridged version)

KOENIG:
Warped Factors

NICHOLS:
Beyond Uhura

RODDENBERRY:
Star Trek Creator by David Alexander

So, I have at least one for each of them. I have another one for Gene, I can't recall the name at the moment, but it is unofficial. So it may not be very trustworthy.

I know you like "making-of" books, so you may want to check out Star Trek: Action! by Terry J. Erdmann. It takes two minutes from DS9: Tears of the Prophets, Voyager: Hope and Fear and Insurrection, and goes shows how much time and effort goes into making just two minutes of footage. For example, for Hope and Fear, it goes into designing the USS Dauntless and it's Bridge, in both Starfleet and Alien versions. And designing the Shuttles for the Picard/Worf and Data chase in Insurrection.

I'll see what else I have lying around. :)
