I viewed the extas on the Star Trek blue ray 3 disk edition and it has a lot of content.. the deleted scenes and not divulging any info, were scenes that should be put back into the film. The scenes actually further explain a few things and would make a very good film even better...

I liked the scenes a lot, but I agree with the reasoning for not including them. Spock's birth for example. Spock was born before Kirk, and thus the scene would had to of been before the attack on the Kelvin. But opening with the Kelvin made for a much more powerful opening.

I would love to see a directors cut of the movie, where the scenes were added back in and some edits of some of the action done to pare back what is viewed by critics as an action film. what I loved about this movie were the characters. Spock's birth and the scene where we learn Kirk emails the green Orion roommate of Uhura's whom he was romancing attaching the reprogramming of the simulation.

I also agree with the choice not to use the scenes. Especially hearing the consideration that went into why they were cut which is expressed on the commentary. It is a good selection of deleted scenes but I do not consider any of them to be essential to the movie. Others may not feel this way but that is just me.

I'm glad they didn't use most of the scenes as well. The opening sequence was one of the best I've ever scene in a movie. Nothing like a high octane start!
