Because I said I wouldn't be interested in a Voyager movie without Seven in it... |
Really?
I don't think they even consider making a movie if Seven of Nine wasn't in it. |
i think i read an interview with her where she said the only way she might possibly come back is it seven were killed off. i'd have to go back and check though. |
No. Thank you! I like my characters alive and well. |
Don't worry, so does Jeri.
Braga thought about killing Seven off in Endgame. |
That would have pissed me off knowing that I stuck with the show only to have her die in the last ep.
I think I would have kicked my TV in. Not that I'm against character death but that would make me feel cheated. |
Now you know how J/Cer's feel. Many of us stuck with the show anticipating Janeway and Chakotay would get together at the end. Kate Mulgrew even said in an interview that she anticipated they would be together by the end of the show. Instead we got C/7. I was depressed for days. |
...but Kate also said she didn't want Janeway to be involved in a romance with a crew member too. ?So I'm still not sure why all you J/Cer's still held out hope for something she had already told you wasn't going to happen?
No offence but IMO it sounds like you all set yourselves up to be disappointed from the get go. |
Nope. She said she wouldn't be involved with a crew member, but that by the end of the show she anticipated they would be together. There was also an entire page of photos dedicated to J/C on her official website, so Kate played that up as much as anyone. |
Kate is also famous for talking out of both sides of her mouth too.
For example: she said the Seven of Nine appeals to the lowest common denominator & then turned around and said the character was wonderfully written and added great dynamic to the show. |
Yup. She lost some credibility with me there.
She's been around the business for a long time, she know's what's going on. does she honestly think she would have got the part if she weighed another 50 pounds?
Now if Seven would have been a bimbo/wh!!!, then she should have stood up on the soap-box and let them have it. |
Sing it on the highest mountain top!!! It's so true. Besides, did Mulgrew forget that when she was a young up and comer that she probably upstaged an older actress(s) herself. It's the nature of the business.

I've heard she didn't treat her bad, and I've heard she was a real Oh No on the set with Jeri, especially early on.
Someday I'll get the straight scoop.
As to Kate being consistant, remember, she's married to a politician!! |
The quote from the con is: | Quote | | She was so clearly there in a sensual way that I was very disconcerted by that initially and may I reacted not as well as I liked. Looking back on it now I think the world of her, a great beauty very smart woman good actress, and less of myself. |
Gracious. But one wonders why she'd say such a thing if she hadn't been less than gracious before?

Honestly, there are times when I just wish I didn't know anything about my favorite characters actors/actresses. |
Did you ever read the Rick Berman interview RocketScientist posted a few months back? ¿Even he confirmed that Kate & Jeri had a very unfriendly relationship behind the camera. Ed Norton said the same thing in an interview recently in regards to the Hulk movie. He said that by the public knowing to much about conflict behind the scenes greatly affects how they then veiw the film and the actors in it. He wishes that such gossip wouldn't be leaked due to that.

I completely agree with both of you on these points, but hindsight is 20/20. In fact Kate said at a con that she had everything to do with Endgame and once they reached the Alpha Quadrant the story was over. However, in a prior interview, the same one where she thought Janeway and Chakotay might get together by the end, she brought out the point that there was more to the story then Voyager just getting home. She specifically mentioned the Maquis and Tom Paris, for example. The only point I was trying to make is that there was enough of a reason for us J/Cers to hold out hope and this is why we were crushed in the end, that's all.

And that comes through loud and clear the way she responds to questions at cons. She has a politician's way of dancing around a topic and leading it in the direction she wants it to go.

With all do respect, to Kate though, I actually think she also changed her mind over time. I think she really did like Beltran in the beginning and then they may have had a "falling out." She was upset about the way he bad mouthed the show and didn't learn his lines. He used to talk about how she carried herself on the set, like she was better than everybody or something like that. I have a feeling that had something to do with it as well. I think that she was sincere in feeling that the Captain should not have a relationship with a member of her crew, but I sincerely believe she thought they would end up together. However, I think she developed such a distaste for Beltran she became opposed to the idea of J/C at all. I have no proof of that what so ever, it's just my opinion from reading various interviews, etc.

Well there's no question that she lead the fans on. The administrator of her website posts regularly on a J/C website, so she knows that she has a fanbase there and doesn't want to burn any bridges. I believe she said something about a handsome man getting together with a beautiful women when referring to C/7. The way she said it had a bit of a "catty" tone to it, as well. So I agree that she does let her personal feelings get in the way. The interesting thing is that you might have even been at those cons, or read those interviews, but without being a "J/Cer" you might have never noticed these things.

Everything Kate says has a catty tone to it--she uses "upper crust" inflections. She actually was a supporter of C/7, and said so many times. Besides, how can you, especially, trust anything the woman says? After all, she's the one who came out with "All thinking people are Democrats."

I've met Mulgrew as you probably know and while it was nice to meet the actress, my God she really does act like she sh*ts Ice Cream. So I can really understand why her co-stars speak badly about her and don't doubt much of what they say about her. She really truly believes she's Kathern Hepburn.

Interesting. I do know that she is a die hard democrat and her mother was best friends with one of the Kennedy's. Much of what we know about her is after the fact though isn't it? I read most of the interviews, etc. years after Voyager had already aired. And even reading them after the fact it was hard to really tell where she stood, other than being passionate about her politics that is. I honestly take that stuff with a grain of salt anyway. Politics is hot button topic and you'll never change the mind of anyone with that mind set anyway. It's just not worth getting frazzled over statements like that.

I don't remember it. You wouldn't happen to have the linky would you? My computer connection is way to slow to do a search.
I did see the videos of Kate at the Star Trek Ball (can't remember the year). They were on youtube for a while, but then they were taken down. I wish I would have downloaded them.
I just love her, but I'm having a hard time with her treatment of Jeri. Very childish. |
God, I wish I did because it was a GREAT interview. ¿Unfortunately it was ruined because all someone wanted to talk about was Kes..............especially considering the interview had nothing to do with her but instead covered Berman's involvement with TNG, DS9, Voy & ENT.(..but I digress) PM RocketScientist, he might still have it. One of the most interesting parts of the interview is what he had to say about DS9 & Behr and how all the rumors fans spread aren't in anyway true. I think you'd really enjoy the read, I sure did.
