If they do use Khan it might not be a remake of Space Seed. This new timeline is so changed that Khan could easily be discovered by someone else, Klingons, Romulans, another Federation ship. He and his crew may already be revived by someone else.

There's plenty of scope to do it differently. Just because events unfolded one way in the prime timeline doesn't mean that they're definately going to play out the exact same way in the new timeline.

Some people round here need to stop thinking remake and start thinking outside the box a little bit. It's sci-fi, anything is possible and it doesn't have to make sense.

Even if it does turn into a semi-remake or Space Seed/TWOK. We can't get TSFS because there's no Genesis planet and no Vulcan for Spock to go back to and have his Katra put back... And he might not even give it to McCoy this time... It's virgin territory... Completely different!

If they do go with Khan, my vote is for Taran Fahir.
He was awesome as Captain Robau, he'd be off the chart as Khan. :logical:

I'm averse to seeing Khan in the next movie. I'd rather they go in a totally new direction.

BUT...if they are going to do it...that would be the guy to go with.

He's awesome, and he'd most likely change my "no Khan" attitude very quickly.
once again...

NO Khan, please.  Why do people keep asking for Khan?
Why?
He was great in TOS.
HE was amazing in Star Trek 2
He influenced Nero's characterization.

Bringing him back, especially now, would be OVER. KILL.

Yeah, I think a major point of rebooting the franchise this way was to do things differently with identifiable characters, but redoing Khan, and redoing Khan in the "2nd movie of this particular series" would just be borderline dumb.

Not really a problem bringing the Khan character back to life, the real issue is whether the next installment should revolve all around the villain, or if it merely serves as a minor element part of a much larger set of themes to the film.

They may not even have to *mention* the name is Khan but it would be obvious from the acting/costume/makeup, and the character gets a small-but-important-role, nothing exaggerated like the Joker in The Dark Knight.
