If there will be a new star trek series, with a completely new crew, then the lead character of the show (the captain) should be Asian
TOS, TNG, VOY and ENT all had a white captain, DS9 had a black captain, so it's time now we had an asian captain
At the very least, the lead character for the next series must not be white- we've already had four white leading characters- that's WAY MORE than enough (and to be honest, it's even a little bit racist)

I think a lot of fans are opposed to the idea of the captain in a star trek seires to be an alien, not a human Apparently it's a rule: the captain must be human, not an alien I didn't realise trekkies were alienists |

Did you watch "The Voyage Home" their is a captin in that movie that is alien.  |

Well the reason there wasn't any Asian captain or Alien is because despite what crew or people are around, the viewers are still finding a connection through the captain and Star Trek is made in the US were most people are white and after that black. It's like wondering why the actors in an Asian movie are Asians and not black. Isn't it obvious?

There are many regional types of "Asians". Are we talking about east Asian, south Asian, southeast Asian, what?
Since Trek writers tend to be heavily biased toward Japanese characters, I'd have a hunch that they come up with an "oriental" captain, if they do decide to whip up another TV series...

The next captain needs to be a gay Bajoran. Star Trek needs to show that they are not oppressing homosexuals and we've had five human captains starring in five series... that is just downright bigoted. However, giving the captain a bumpy nose would show that Star Trek is not biased towards humans.

The next captain needs to be Asian just for a change? Not because there could be a good reason for having one? I'd rather not have a minority of the week captain just for the sake of it.

The next captain should be whoever the next captain is. And then we do not fuss about the fact that Papua New Guinean highland tribes are under-represented in Starfleet. |

The next starship captain needs to be a transexual Jewish Romulan woman who also happens to be pregnant and a Vietnam-era vetran who lost her legs as a result of a tragic water polo accident.
