Edit to ask: does anyone know when AMT or whoever got the rights is going to come out with a model kit?

Yes blu-ray(according to the printed add) as well.

There is a company licensed to do the TREK XI Enterprise and it is due in Jan or Feb of next year.

The Blue Ray 3 Disc with ship package apparently is cheaper than the DVD, dropped from arppox $35 to $24.99!! ?But doesn't appear to be only available on-line:

Target Blue Ray + Ship

Can anyone independently (or from insider) that this is available only thru web or can be picked up in store?

Wal-Mart and Fry's have the blu-ray version for about $20. Not as cool as an Enterprise case, but if you don't care about presentation, then that's the cheapest price that I've seen.

Wal-Mart

Fry's ad-front page; bottom right corner (The Fry's price is only good to this Friday. Afterwards, their new ad and prices roll out.)

Be cautious with the model though... some people over here in Europe spoke of cheap quality, and that parts of it would break apart when you tried to assemble it.

Okay here's the lowdown on Best Buy.

In addition to opening up at midnight on the 16th (early morning 17th) as reported in WkdYngMan's thread, Best Buy will have several options for purchasing the movie.

First off, there is their doorbuster deal. In the first two hours of operation (10 a.m. to 12 p.m.), on Tuesday only, Best Buy will knock $3 off the price, basically costing $21.

Now, here's something else that's pretty cool. There's a special Blu-Ray Gift Set available at Best Buy that comes with four collectible Star Fleet deltas.

That one will run you $37 with the doorbuster discount (remember first two hours on Tuesday). I can't seem to find out though what the badges are made of. Pewter would be sweet, but unlikely. I just don't want them to be some flimsy plastic.

Now, if you don't even have a blu-ray player, but were planning on buying one, then Best Buy will sell you a copy of Star Trek for only $5 if you buy the Insignia NS-WBRDVD for $200. Judging from the reviews, it's an okay bd-player. The coolest thing about it is that it's wireless and can stream Netflix.

Any way, here's Best Buy's Sunday ad; page 12. (Larger View)

For clarification, it's actually coming out in the 3rd or 4th quarter of 2010.

Here are some details of some of their other newer projects including a possible 1/350 scale of the original Enterprise!

Add Amazon to the list of retailers who are selling Star Trek for $20.

Order $25 in merchandise and receive free shipping.

Later on (no date specified), Amazon will offer a special Limited Edition Replica Gift Set. Chances are, it won't be cheap, but this is definitely the set to beat all other special editions or gift sets.

It's not the same thing this is a Target exclusive.
