Why did the Breen align themselves with the Dominion during the Dominion War? The Breen are a Alpha Quadrant species. What possible leverage do the Breen have in helping the Dominion?

The Dominion was allied with several Alpha Quadrant species (including the Cardassians, for a time.) And of course there was always a danger before the Romulans allied themselves with the Federation that they could have joined the Dominion as well.

Basically, they did the same as they did to convince Dukat to join them. They promised the Breen tactical power -- and additional conquered territories at the end of the war.

The Breen therefore believed that it would be to their advantage. Being an Alpha Quadrant species doesn't necessarily guarantee that they will feel any loyalty to their neighbours.

The Breen entry on Memory Alpha provides a little insight on their alliance with the Dominion...including one that I never considered about a possible Founder infiltrator. Here's an excerpt:

Quote
In 2375, the Breen moved from a policy of low-level hostilities toward other major powers to one of open warfare when they allied themselves with the Dominion. They were then allowed access to the Dominion military database. According to the terms of the alliance, the Breen Confederacy received several planets in the Cardassian Union as compensation for joining the war. (DS9: "Strange Bedfellows")

The Breen may have been influenced to join the Dominion by a Changeling impersonator in the Confederacy's government, as an unidentified Breen was seen in Internment Camp 371, where several people who had been replaced by Changelings were placed.

That of course is possible too. *although not confirmed*.

Still, I have the impression that Thot Gorr was the kind to be easily influenced by the promise of power.

because they're a villain race (also minority players) and they'll help other villains just like the cardassians. Romulans and klingons are major alpha quadrant players that's why they won't like the dominion.

They like the Cardassians and several other governments had open on-going engagements with the Federation. Until the Dominion came along none of these governments had the power to pose a serious threat towards the Federation.

The Dominion made a bunch of false promises of power and glory to the Breen and others which is why the Breen among others joined the Dominion.
