I think we can all agree that we should leave the cultural education to those of that culture, so that none of these misunderstandings happen again.

I think that's logical & fair.

Agreed.

Apology accepted.

I recall really liking this episode! The idea was cool.

First we assumed that the evil alien was the POV we were following through the ship. I bought into the idea hook line and sinker the first time. Moving from Tuvok to Tom to Neelix. Doing damage and plotting against us.

It actually wasn't until Neelix and the medicine wheel, that it made sense. Clearly I'm easier to dupe than others! :)

You guys have got me thinking now about other Native American characters in the movies. Now I haven't seen many westerns, so off the top of my head the only ones I can think of are:

Dances with Wolves
Last of the Mohicans

or...

...dare I even mention this one to Teya...

Will Sampsons character in Poltergeist II

Would you say that any of those films have come near to representing a true picture of Native American culture? And if not, can you name any movies that have?

"Last of the Mohicans" is based on a romantic story by a white guy.

I loved this novel. Quite a compelling story.

The movie, as is often the case, was nothing like the book. The book is well worth the read in my humble opinion.

I thought we were following the evil aliens's POV too at first, although right from when Kes was injured I just knew it was Tuvok.

I can't remember at what point I knew the 'other' one was Chakotay, but it was quite near to the end :)

I knew it was Tuvok, but I believed the alien was mobile. I was quite surprised when Chuckles was the ethereal entity.

JANEWAY: Is it possible that you inflicted her wounds?
TUVOK: Me?
JANEWAY: Maybe you were inhabited by the alien at that moment.
TUVOK: It is possible. Perhaps we should have the doctor run a neurological scan to see if I show a memory disruption.
JANEWAY: Agreed. Janeway to Sickbay. Computer, activate Emergency Medical Holographic System.

^ I remember being a bit scared for Janeway in that scene, because I couldn't tell if she'd realised it was Tuvok or not. And then when she said about splitting her command codes between the rest of the crew, and Tuvok being the obvious choice, I think I yelled out at the TV "Don't do it!"
