Very interesting, they would have added some much needed depth to TREK XI. I honestly think these scenes would solve most of the complaints some have about the movie.
Unfortunately they still haven't addressed the issues concerning the nuEnterprise herself, which truly is a shame.

I have seen all of these. Kirk Brothers & Uncle Frank along with Klingon's Capture The Narada would have been two scenes that I would have like to have seen kept in the movie.

Yea, and they should have kept Spock's birth as well.
It seems TREK XI suffers from the same thing NEM did: BAD Editing.

Yes Spock's birth scene was by far my second favorite deleted scene. The whole Rura Penthe scene was great all around my favorite by far.
The Kirk apologizing to the wrong green girl on Enterprise was funny but totally pointless to the story. It is basically one deleted scene referencing another anyway.
The Kirk brothers scene would have helped bridge the gap and give more character development to our new Kirk. Out of all the deleted scenes I would have actually kept this one even over the Klingon scenes since Klingons maybe would have confused new fans. ¿
Just keep in mind there are still 3 deleted scenes that I have not found as I am sure we are aware.
Sarek seeing Spock Prime in the hanger on Earth.
Kirk enlisting the help Of Gaila to cheat on the Kobayashi Maru
Sarek and Amanda most likely just as the Narada starts drilling Vulcan.

I agree. I really do not think the birth of Spock scene along with the all the Klingon scenes and the young Kirk and his brother scene would really have slowed down the pacing of the movie. It would have lengthened the movie only by 10 minutes or so. I also think the Amanda and Sarek arguing scene would have been great character development!!! When Serek tells Spock he loved his mother after she died having that scene of them arguing would have made that later scene more of an impact.

Spock's Birth scene was great but not for JJ's style of starting a movie out with a bang. Maybe they also felt Spock being born first in the movie instead of Kirk may have thrown things off a bit for the audience and caused them to think the story was about Spock first and Kirk second. Still was easily one of my favorites.
My worst scene. Klingon's capturing the Narada. I expected to see a lot more than just a Klingon intercom voice then surrender. The Narada is supposed to be a borg nanoprobe enhanced ship. Is there nothing that could have been done to put up a fight? Are we supposed to believe that a warp core explosion on a ship bigger than ds9 was totally crippled. Yes it was essential to the story but I would have loved to see at least one Klingon boarding party. A few Bat'leth and Klingon disrupters here and there.

Seeing these scene does have me changing my mind about extended cut DVDs. Generally I do not like them and think often the theatrical cuts are generally the best, but in this case I will make an exception. Although I loved the movie, and still do, I think adding some of those scenes would have made this movie even better.

Yes, they did get that wrong. But then again I thought it was stupid for Trek VI to have made Rura Penthe an asteroid to begin with.

Depends on what level or section of the asteroid your on. If you were closer to the center or on the side facing the star its orbiting it can explain many things. In the end it's an A.T./A.U. anyways so it doesnt really matter.

I don't think time travel ?would cause a shift in temperature on a asteroid. It would still be pretty #### cold on Rura Penthe, Ironically, the planet called Delta Vega in the movie would have been perfect for Rura Penthe, temperature-wise.

By the same token, Rura Penthe must be a very special asteroid to have a breathable atmosphere and snow.

Which is why I thought calling it an asteroid in Trek VI was a big mistake.
