I always like Picard's character, even in the early seasons where he was a grump and closed off from other people.

The thing one has to remember is that he is human like everybody else, thus can be talked to if you find the right things to talk about.

It also depends on if you're under his command or not.... when you're under his command, he tends to seperate himself personally with you, but if you're just a civilian, he seemed to never have much of a problem opening up.

It would be a bit difficult to open a line of communication with him if you were under his command, but it'd still be possible..... if it was just me as I am today, it wouldn't be an issue.

Of course if he didn't want to talk, we wouldn't talk, and the trip wouldn't make a difference either way.
