It's a toughie. Integrity--hadn't considered that, but it's a plus, now that you point it out. He definitely had a physical courage that made things more exciting, and complemented his team-mentality--whoops! that crosses over into another category! This is gonna take some more thought, Scoobydog.

I went with dedication, though the nature of that dedication evolves over the series - it's a very common thread.

we're back at that evolution motif... but that's actually an interesting statement. provocative, but I kinda know what you mean already...

It's hard to pick only one. Several of those choices are major components of what makes Archer the man and captain he is and it's difficult to say which one thing is "best." I'll have to give it more thought. I guess the one thing not listed fits under "Other." He looks very hot with or without a shirt.

I wasn't gonna go there... 'turn this into a female go-to-town thread. But seriously: no one EVER hires Scott Bakula NOT to take off his shirt.

His dedication to his crew and ship seems to win out with me. I never really cared to see him with his shirt off.

I with the crowd on this, his dedication to his ship and crew was pretty prevalent throughout the series and I thought it made him a character that you could actually like. He always cared what happened to people under his command and would go the extra mile for them. Sometimes I think he went a bit too far and lost perspective, but he was almost always consistent in his dedication to the people under him.
I know this is not what you are looking for in this poll, but one thing I loved about his character is that he was not some form of superman or shown to be perfect. To many times ST franchise had the Captains as to much larger than life, which I thought was a bit unrealistic. The fact that Archer made mistakes, learned from them, showed human weakness at times and all the other faults us people have made him a lot more likable IMO.

The first thing I liked about Archer was his threatening to knock someone on their ass. And then he did it again, and again. And so did his Chief Engineer. That kinda set the no-nonsense, barriers-down tone for relations on the ship from day one, and it's one I liked.
