This is one of those episodes that I guess you could drive yourself mad over if you think about it too much. So the Voyager crew were responsible for triggering the detonation that destroyed the planet, and the planet wouldn't have been destroyed if they hadn't beamed down to the surface.
BUT the only reason they beamed down was to investigate the explosion in the first place.

Anyway, I thought this was a good episode. I enjoyed seeing Chakotay get a bit more to do, he handled command well IMO, and seems to be getting respect from the Starfleet Officers as well as the Maquis.

Paris is turning out to be a rather fun character too, alhough my sister, who's a few episodes ahead of me at the moment, says he's just annoying so I'm interested to see where they go with him.

I had a whole load of issues with the Prime Directive in this episode, but since that debate is already raging on the Caretaker thread, I've taken them over there to save everyone having to repeat themselves.

This is another one of those episode like Parallax. There are a few more in store for you this season... Though your next episode is great! (zips his lip)

I have never gotten Time & Again to jive with timelines or Prime Directive in my head. Other posters might have more 'enlightened' viewpoint. Regardless of that, I like the story, yes even with the costumes, and the development of Tom, Chuckes (Chakotay to you), Torres, and the lovely Madam Captain. No offense to your sister, but I totally disagree with her about Mr Paris. (Hence the Avatar)

But honestly...what did you think of that kid? I was cheering for a slow painful death!

Chuckles? he he...can't wait to find out what that's all about ;)

As for the kid...considering I've just come off watching TOS, where all the child actors there are just painfully bad, I thought he did a pretty decent job.

But I did love the scene where Paris told him he was a demon that ate kids for breakfast ;)

Tom Paris is a wise ass.

I guess if you don't like that type of personality, he could be annoying.  However for me, Tom was one of the best character in Trek because he was so hands on.  We finally got to see what Joe Everyman was like in the Trek universe.

I also like the Paris character, he so does not fit the role everyone expects of a SF officer.  It was kind of refreshing to see a character that had a bit of an offbeat sense of humor.

It was good to have a character that liked Rock & Roll.

don't you love temporal mechanics?  especially when an episode deals with effect&cause rather than cause&effect.  if they hadn't listened to kes everything would've been fine.  after this adventure if i were janeway the next time kes set foot on the bridge with some premonition i'd have said, "STFU pixie and get back to your hyrdroponics bay with your garden gnome."

as for that kid, i've never been a fan of human shields in shootouts but he became an exception.  for me he really makes it a challenge to watch this episode.
