Star Trek Voyager has never really been known to have strong writing but which episode was the best written in your opinion?

I disagree that there was strong writing on Voyager (in fact, it had everything else, but lacked good writing most of the time), but I'll answer the question anyway.

Timeless was probably the best episode when all was said and done.  Someone to Watch Over Me was brilliantly written as well.  However, I'm going to go with Counterpoint as the best episode on paper, and as it turned out it was also brilliant on the screen.

Just recently, I saw the end of an episode on TV where some guy was going to executed and Seven of nine said to janeway "When I was a drone, I assimilated thousands of people but I was never punished for it" and Janeway replied "the borg took 20 years of your life away from you, I'd say that's punishment enough"

Which episode was that? Was it any good?

"repentance" (season 7, episode 12).

i liked it but it was somewhat status quo and predictable.

Totally agree with that! Counterpoint is my favorite Voyager episode. Great, great episode.

Season 5 was full of awesome episodes.... Latent image, Timeless, Extreme Risk, Gravity....

I have a hard time choosing... I really liked Gravity, but was the best written? Probably not. I'm going to go out on a limb here and vote for Thirty Days.

Someone to Watch Over Me was simply a retelling of Pygmalion. While it was decent, it wasn't anything of note.

I'll agree with you on "Counterpoint."

I've also got a fondness for "Nemesis."

you seem so intent to prove that voyager was lacking that you didn't bother reading the OP's initial post. he/she said that voyager didn't have strong writing and you assumed they said the opposite.  :eyesroll:

Latent Image and Repentance comes to mind for well done VOY eps - Im sure theres a couple more I could think of, but I havent revisited VOY in a while so I cant remember them all. Another one that jumps to the front is where 7/9 was having multiple personality disorder - just cant remember the ep name right now.

Then again, I think I might be mish-moshing this all with well-performed as opposed to well-written.

Infinite Regress is the name of that episode. It was well written because it showcased Jeri Ryan's acting ability at just the right time and it was a well performed episode which was the whole point.

Yes good one! I haven't seen Voyager for months so the eps aren't fresh in my mind but I was going to say Jetrel.
