I haven't been here in awhile and was wondering if anyone has info on what is next for Star Trek (if anything). Movie? Series?

Whatever it is, it shouldn't include Abrams. That is, unless he attends Star Trek sensitivity training.

And whatever it is, there needs to be more checks and balances in the plot decision process. Or there just needs to be better judgement.

My guess is that the studio won't do any more maniacs in a monster ship plots. I'd bet on Klingons for XII.

Old friend of mine knows people at Paramount involved with Star Trek...he's never been wrong before.

Says part of the licensing agreement for Paramount to use the Star Trek characters from CBS is that CBS agreed not to air a new Star Trek series until no less than three years after the release date of STXI...which would mean May 2012 at the earliest until we can see new TV Trek.

Do really believe that will happen that CBS is really interested and they wont think they could be oversaturating Trek? SB63 does your friend know what idea that they have for the next Trek?

I am starting to think they should go in a different direction and have a series about Starfleet's temporal agents that uphold the "Temporal prime directive". If not they need to come up with something to keep Star Trek alive instead of a movie every few years with actors that have ZERO intention of doing a series.

Lucas has done it for Star Wars with the animated series The Clone Wars. Devotees of Star Wars might not like it but I do and more importantly kids seem to love it. That will keep Star Wars alive by introducing it to new generations that have yet to even see a Star Wars movie.
