Wow I'm the only one who voted for Tuvok. Kinda surprising :logical:

19 votes.  Anyone think this is sad except me.

There HAS to be more than 19 Voyager fans!

Really? I'm kind of intrigued, because in TOS Spock is my favourite character (and I realise that he is only half Vulcan), but I just can't take to Tuvok...yet.

What is it about him that makes him your favourite character (if you can possibly answer that without giving me too many spoilers)

There was only 1 where they focused on him as the main element charachter which was a boxing ep.

Which sucked. ¿Not just because of the boxing.

Really? So Chakotay doesn't get that much development time as a character then? That's a shame if true because he's definately interesting.

And a boxing episode sounds cr*p...although I shouldn't really say that until I've seen it.

he does for the first three seasons, but the last four he doesn't. as you get further into the series ask about him then, b/c we have had many a spirited debates about why he doesn't seem to grow that much (re:behind the scenes fodder) after season three.

Ah...does this have anything to do with the interviews I've read with him where he makes comments like "Voyager felt like a punishment for all the bad things I've done" or something like that?

like i said if you want to get into that whole backstage drama just ask and watch the humorous fun begin. ¿;)

i usually defend about 60-75% of what he said and did while others give him no quarter.

I actually would like to hear more, particularly in his defence, because for some reason it always gets to me when the actors that I love in my favourite series's don't share my love of the work they're doing.

When I found out that Leonard Nimoy didn't like TMP I was quite upset!

yeah, i'm the same way. but, i give a little more leniency to robert beltran b/c he's always spoke highly of his co-stars saying they are as good or better than the other trek casts and he'd put them up against any of those actors any day.  as far i know, he has also been pretty hospitable and gracious to fans (though his dry, sarcastic humor is also open to debate).

his problem first stemmed from the fact that he wasn't a sci-fi fan and never has been. he took the ST gig b/c he needed a job and when his agent sent him the script and he auditioned on a whim.

one of the things that the writers and producers would do with the actors (which i assume is true of most series) is they'd ask the actors if they had thoughts on the actors growth and progression. beltran has stated that he had no ideas and that that wasn't his job to come up with them.  he was an actor.  as the series progressed he grew more disillusioned with the scripts for whatever reason. he says he started lobbying the writers for changes in the stories or direction of the series, but no one would listen. unhappy with things, he took his complaints public by trashing the writer.  he hoped this would get him fired b/c if he just quit then his contract stated he'd lose a boatload of money he'd already earned and future revenues as well.

He actually wanted to get fired? Ouch!

I kind of agree with him that it's not really the actors job to come up with development for a character, although him not having any ideas may have come across as apathy, I dunno.

So...this might be completely the wrong place to ask this question...but does Voyager get worse as the seasons go on? Because I can honestly say, the first four episodes are amongst the best TV sci-fi I have ever seen!

No! Not a chance. It slows down in 2 &3 but hang in there.

The fact that you're hooked after 4 episode tells me your going to LOVE what is in store.

Seasons 4,5 and 6 are the ones I find my favorite episodes on.

i think it's in the eye of the beholder.  a few say the 1st three seaons are the best. many say that seasons 4 and 5 were the high points and still many others say that each season just keeps getting better and better (like me). while i think it comes down to the stories the fan likes, i think another big part of it comes down to who the fan's favorite character(s) was (were). i come to that conclusion b/c what happens to a character seems to correlate with the fan's favorite season(s).

yeah, most agree that season two was the weakest of voyager, but it still had its moments.  however, i thought season three had some awesome episodes.

but remember also that four of the first five episodes of season two were filmed to be part of season one.  in fact, the first season two episode "the 37's" was supposed to be the season one finale.

Agreed.

However, looking back I'd say every season has standout eps. and no season is completely bad.

Absolutely!

I'm a self admitted Kool-Aid drinker, so I was just trying to sound objective.
