Were any of the actors in any of the series depressed whilst the series were being made?

I know leonard Nimoy was depressed and suicidal throughout the filming of season 3 of star trek, apparently he became an alcoholic during filming and he stayed up at nights drinking and drinking until he'd literally pass out.

Were any other stars from the other series face depression?

weren't some of the stars in Enterprise fraustrated and depressed cause the show had low ratings, they weren't getting paid enough and they thought the show was crap anyway

grace lee whitney with official depression. That's about it. I know takei hated koenig during TOS. Everybody hated shatner especially doohan.  nichols wanted to leave the show during season 1. Koenig was depressed after the show was cancelled. Shatner was depressed because his wife left him with nothing and his father died. So yeah everybody except for deforest, doohan, and takei had any problems with the show ending.

Takei hated Koenig? I've never heard that one before.

yeah the two had to share scripts and a dressing room. Takei pretty much hated koenig for being the new guy and trying to steal his spotlight. Koenig for years didn't even know takei hated him.

I heard the hatred Takei had for Koening was actually very brief. Having shared the same trailer, Takei found out quickly that Koenig was married to a good friend of his back in college and that turned it around. Takei says that Koenig is now one of his best and life long friends.

I think that any group of people, who are together for so long, and work so intimately with each other, will have fights and fall out from time to time.
Even Nimoy talks about times he didn't speak to Shatner for days because of something he said that upset him, and they're great friends now.

I bet you could take any ensemble cast drama and you'd find the same tensions and arguments.

I guess the only difference here is that certain members of the cast seem to like to keep bringing these issues back up, even though they happened so many years ago *cough* Takei *cough*

Some board member told me once that Denise had anorexia when they were filming season 1 of TNG. Im not sure do I believe that or not.

On a similar note, I was reading yesterday about Robert Beltran on Memory Alpha and I came across this:

Quote
Beltran, like Enterprise actress Jolene Blalock, was infamous for his outspoken views on how his series was progressing. He once remarked in an interview that he thought Star Trek: Voyager was "punishment for everything in my life up till that point. Thanks, dear Lord for the... uh, Star Trek gig"

Does anyone have any backstory on this quote? Did Beltran not enjoy making Voyager?

I heard that, too. When I was in recovery for anorexia, they had a pamphlet with a list of famous people who've conquered eating disorders, and she was on there.

Don't know if it's really true, though.

In my opinion Denise was thin, but not too thin. Besides Denise has always been thin. She was already thin when she was 20 years old and posed for playboy. I love her body. I wish I was thin as Denise. But anyway it would be nice to know that did she had anorexia or not. Maybe we should write to her and ask.

Eating Disorder does not equal too thin (or thin at all).

This is an interesting topic. I know about Star Trek actors who were not happy during filming but I do not know if they were depressed. I will also look into this discussion and try to contribute sources.

The Galaxy Quest character that drank was based on Nimoy.

I would hope not.  I mean, what has he done outside of Star Trek Voyager that anyone would know him from?  I'm willing to bet he didn't turn down his salary and I bet he cashes those royalty checks.

I hate it when people are like this.  They get famous from doing a show, and then have the audacity to complain about it.

I know he's really into Down Syndrome charities.  Does he complain that he's able to get donations for them due to the status given to him by ST:VOY?
