Ok, i have read several posts over the last few months that make me wonder, do fans really think that the Borg are gone for good, as well as, why are they thinking this.

For those that don't understand what i am talking about below is a reply on another thread that i found today that will, hopefully, help clarify what i am talking about (won't name names, that person will know who they are):

Quote
With the borg gone in the delta quadrant and with all transwarp nexuses destroyed no species in the delta quadrant can step up to major player status.

Now why does this person think that the Borg are gone? Yes Admiral Janeway blew up the Uniplex, along with the Queen in Endgame, thus throwing the collective into disorganization, but it is also a fact that the borg are the most resiliant race in the universe, and would quickly adapt to this new situation by creating a new Queen as soon as they were able to do so.

As for the destruction of the Uniplex, has it not occured to anyone that the collective would have more then one such place in there vast territory, or even transfer everything to one of the hundreds of planets that are in their territory until an new complex is constructed.

Next is the part about the transwarp hubs (or as the person that wrote this called it transwarp nexuses). Janeway clearly confirms with Seven when they first saw the hub that there were only 6 such places in the entire universe. When Voyager finally entered the conduit that would take them home they caused only enough damage to destroy that one hub (they said as much when going over the plan). So unless the hub are conected in some way to each other, other then by the borg subspace radio, the explosive wave that shot out of the conduit, that proceeded to destroy the rest of the hub, should not have effected any of the other 5 hubs.

I have tried to show how it is imposible that the Borg could have been destroyed by what happened to them in Endgame and hope that it will convince others that feel that they were destroyed.

well if the are not, they are not strong enought to cause any treat to any 1 if you ask me...the more the borg have been seen the more the federation seemed to adapted to borg tactic and with voyager data on the borg, its pretty clear that until the borg come back with something else, the federation can fight back the invasion

I think it's reasonable to assume that the Borg would survive and adapt. There are thousands of Borg ships across the galaxy and millions or billions of Drones. The Borg ship that Hugh went back to in "I, Borg" fell into disarray and those Borg went searching for a new leader and ultimately found Lore. I'm sure other ships would go looking for a new Queen if the old one truly got eradicated.

And then there's VGR's "Unity" where the ex-drones used the neural network to establish a collective mind to unify the waring tribes. That could be the making of a new Borg Society. Chakotay speculated about this himself.

And all it would take for the Borg to be a power again is assimilate an unsuspecting Federation scientist on a remote world who understands the nature of the technology Admiral Janeway brought back from the future. And maybe there's a race even more powerful out there that offer the Borg a curve ball.

The Borg have a bloody nose, they're not even close to being wiped out.

It would not be impossible to destroy the Borg, but it would be dam hard to do so.  I think to complety stop the Borg you would have to destroy every bit of there tech.  Even right done to the littiest nano probe.  Someone like Q would be the one to stop the Borg.  But why would he?

I think in the 25th century the federation wipes out the borg because of all that tech they developed. Transphasic torpedoes and that super armor.

No, the Borg still exist.

Janeway infected them with a virus.  Doesn't matter what kind, there are always going to be a few that are immune.  As long as one drone survives to assimilate, the Borg survive.

like i said tribblenator, i wasn't going to name anyone.

Also, why are they such a dud, just becuase Janeway found an effective way to fight them? The main problem with the borg is that despite the fact that they can adapt to any situation and weapon that they come across, the fact remains that they are predictable as hell, and unfortunatly for them Janeway figured them out. That doesn't make them any less dagerous, or in some cases scary, then they were in TNG, it just means that we know more about them, and to quote someone, Knowledge is Power!

The torpedos and armor won't do them much good tribblenator, the Queen assimilated that knowledge and distributed it throughout the collective in the short time it took for the virus to start working. Or didn't you remember that the Sphear that was in pursute of Voyager in the corridor was damaging their armor, unlike the three cubes that attacked the ship the second time it went into the nebula.
