I don't know if it cheapens it. Spock was too important to kill, in regards to the franchise.

If Spock had died at the end of a Trilogy, and that was the end of Star Trek - then Spock could stay dead. TWoK, IMHO, was Star Trek at its very finest, hitting its stride. There's no way Trek could exist without Kirk, Spock, and McCoy...If they planned further movies, Spock was needed.

I do agree with you.

I guess they created a bit of a catch 22 for themselves with that scene, because it was a really bold move killing off Spock...but then where could they go from there?

Personally (and objectively) I DO think that bringing him back cheapens that scene...but at the same time I don't think I'd have been interested in a Kirk-era Trek without him.

Yeah, you could be right there.

I guess...and this may sound a little silly...that even though Trek is science fiction, most of the concepts in it I can believe them quite easily. But someone putting their soul into another, and then their body being 'born' again...I dunno, I just had a hard time with.

Also, and I've said this before, and also above, I don't think I realised how essential Spock is to my viewing experience until he's not there any more (and I don't count the 'young Spocks' because I just couldn't take to them)

I really want to like the film, I do. I will give it another watch down the line...but right now, I'm still meh.

No, not yet.

I've kind of held back on the final two films until I've finished the series. I've got about half of series 3 still to go yet.

I would also love for Kirk to be brought back. And especially, I hate the thought of one of them (ie. Kirk and Spock) still being around after the other has gone :(

I know, I know...but I've kind of prepared myself for it.

Also, it's a long way off for me yet. I've got to watch a couple of seasons of TNG before I get into the TNG films.

And I have to confess that I've started Voyager first

yea... i saw you on the voyager board... you really should do tng... its just more fluid to do tng ds9 then voy... things happen in the trek verse that carries over, you are going to jump in to the borg with voy with out ever knowing what they did in tng, the marquies will not be anything without tng and ds9 and about 1009878748495687 other examples... but how ever you do it enjoy :)

MS...you do not want to go there with 4lights!

(I'm only joking 4lights, I've told you before that I really appreciate how much you care that people see it all 'properly' )
