Does anyone know how they modulated the Borg voices (in any series) to make them sound as they do? Or a way to come close?
I'm hoping to use Audacity or some other sort of software to create some Borg voice tracks.

i can do it without any of that fancy crap. just put a small craqual (or make it sound like you are talking through something) in the back of your throat, then deepen it. You will then have a fairly acurate impersonation of the voice of the Borg Collective.

Yes - I know exactly how they did it... (at least in early TNG). Record your phase in Audacity. Then speak/record the same phrase over-and-over again, repeating the process on different tracks each time. Get your friends, and parents too...keep doing it until you have about 20-30 voices. You can also record 2-3 voices at once, and repeat. This will speed up the process some. You have to have some different voices and pitches to make it "chorus" correctly. I used this trick on a CD years ago to get "crowd noise" and "Crowd singing" for a wrestling song (haha). Works like a charm. Massive overdubbing is how the original Borg Voice was done.

Its really not that hard. You just have to match the rhythm of the voices. You can try recording all your own voices, then shifting the pitch very slightly in Audacity. If you ever attend Catholic Mass, when they are all speaking together, it sounds like Borg! Creepy:)

i was just hoping there was a way i could record ONE voice, then have a set of pre-programmed effects and turn out some borg like that. Recording the same line 15-20 times gets old pretty fast...
I tried in audacity with 2 voices each copied 3 or 4 times and then pitch shifted each one a bit and moved them just a little so they weren't exactly on top of one another then compressed all THAT into a single mono track and it sounded all right, but not quite perfect. I think the key is actually having different voices. I'm going to try the same but use one of those "voice changer" AU/VST plugins and hopefully it will turn out better

There may be some "harmonizer" patches out there. Eventide stuff maybe. I'm sure you can get pretty close with an FX patch, (not gurgling your throat tho), but there is a "depth" to having all those voices. Try getting 5 people to say the phrase at once. Then create a duplicate track, and lower the pitch by .3 -.5 cents...that might get you there too.
