A poll by the readers of Doctor Who Magazine has named Fifth Doctor Peter Davison's swansong as the best in the shows 45 year history.

The survey was commisioned as the the Easter Special Planet of the Dead was the 200th televised adventure for the Doctor (no Shada doesn't count, The Trial of a Time Lord counts as one story, and the same applies to 2007's Utopia/The Sound of Drums/Last of the Time Lords).

Here's the top twenty stories, in reverse order:

20 The Deadly Assassin
19 Earthshock
18 The Evil of the Daleks
17 Terror of the Zygons
16 The Seeds of Doom
15 Dalek
14 Rememberance of the Daleks
13 The Stolen Earth/Journey's End
12 Turn Left
11 The Girl in the Fireplace
10 Bad Wolf/The Parting of the Ways
9 The Robots of Death
8 City of Death
7 Pyramids of Mars
6 Human Nature/The Family of Blood
5 The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances
4 The Talons of Weng-Chiang
3 Genesis of the Daleks
2 Blink
1 The Caves of Androzani

Interestingly enough, the worst rated story, Colin Baker's debut The Twin Dilemma, aired only a week after The Caves of Androzani. Funny old world, eh?

If anyone want's to know where a particular story rated, just shout, and I'll let you know.

"The Caves" episode must be good... Because "Blink" is one of the best science fiction episodes I have ever seen.

I really wish someone would put together a package of all of the "Doctor Who" shows so I can watch them in order.

Even Netflix doesn't have them all

I saw "Caves" once on DVD, I thought it was ok, but I wasn't watching Doctor Who for long when I saw it. Maybe a Regeneration Story was'nt the best place for a relative newbie to have his first encounter with  the Fifth Doctor. :D

I admit it. I was gutted when "Blink" was knocked in second place. It even says it in the magazine, had Blink gotten a few more tens, it'd be top story.

The Girl in the Fireplace was my favorite

In real life David Tennant and Sophia Myles had a romance going on for a time

Quote
Doctor Who star David Tennant has called time on his two-year relationship with Sophia Myles, it has been claimed.
Tennant, 36, is said to have ended the romance by phone while the Thunderbirds actress was filming in LA, blaming the miles between them.
The News of the World claims that 27-year-old Miss Myles was devastated.
Ex-terminate: Dr Who star David Tennant and Sophie Myles have ended their relationship
One told the paper: "It was a complete shock for Sophia - she didn't see this coming.
"David just called and said it was all over. He stressed that it was no one else and it was just one of those things.
"It's been hard for them both because she's been filming in LA and David's been working in the UK."
Tennant met Miss Myles on the set of Dr Who shortly after he landed the Time Lord role in the hit BBC1 show.
Only last year Miss Myles, best known for playing Lady Penelope in the 2004 film of Thunderbirds, told how happy she was with Tennant and said she wanted to start a family with him.
But the actor has been nursing his own heartache this year after his mother Helen died after a five-year battle with cancer.
The pal added: "It's a difficult time for David - maybe he just needs some space.
"It's a shame because they made a lovely couple."

I heard Tennant and Georgia Moffat from "The Doctor's Daughter" (rated 140 out of 200) are an item, but this was a while back.

And between Myles and Moffat he was dating a production assistant from DW. She's a blonde too...

Okay, to go on topic...

I can't believe The Twin Dilemma is bottom again. Delta and the Bannermen is the worst!

The Girl in the Fireplace was my favorite

Shame it missed being in the top ten.

I'd have switched Stolen Earth/Journey's End with Girl in the Fireplace

No wait, Stolen Earth deserves the Eleventh spot. Journey's End should be waaaay down.

Haven't seen either, but my least favourite, Timelash was at a deserved 199th place.

I was dumbfounded to see Planet of the Dead at 99th place! I hated that one slightly less then Timelash.

I'm slightly forgiving of Timelash. The badguy looks brilliant and I liked the idea of the Doctor having already visited in an unseen adventure. I'd move it up a few places. Planet of the Dead I'd probably say 120-130 sounds right to me. Stolen Earth/Journey's End would have to go down near the bottom for me. Now I loved Stolen Earth which makes Journey's End all the more painful. I can't believe we had all that build up for "Donna presses a couple of buttons, the Earth is saved".

On a positive note I'm pleased Remembrance of the Daleks got a nice high finish, I think it's worth a top ten place though.

I'm surprised "The Ark in Space" wasn't on the list. It's one of my favorite Tom Baker episodes. I also liked "The Invasion of Time" as well as Sylvester McCoy's "Silver Nemesis."

By the way, I found a local store that imports Welsh, Irish, Scottish and English goods and I bought a bag of Jelly Babies. They really are the best candy in the whole universe! :D
