No pocket protector. I do wear glasses, I had a 4.0 in undergrad and graduate school. I read nothing but non-fiction things like Astronomy, history, politics, religion, philosophy and psychology. I really suck at math though.

I consider myself more of a nerd. :)

How can you suck at math with 4.0s and reading all those books SR? ?

Well, color me impressed! ?What did you study in grad school btw? ?

As for being a geek, what's the technical definition now? ?It seems that label is being applied now to people who are big fans of genre entertainment, ala ST, comics, etc. ?

The definitions from Webster's are:

Main Entry: geek
Pronunciation: \ˈgēk\
Function: noun
Etymology: probably from English dialect geek, geck fool, from Low German geck, from Middle Low German
Date: 1914
1 : a carnival performer often billed as a wild man whose act usually includes biting the head off a live chicken or snake
2 : a person often of an intellectual bent who is disliked
3 : an enthusiast or expert especially in a technological field or activity

I really think the definition has changed to a fan of genre entertainment.

I have a Master's degree in European History. I was able to take a very simple college algebra course for undergrad and ¿my Master's Degree I studied nothing but European History. So it was very easy to get 4.0.

Since I am a big fan of superhero movies and science fiction movies I guess I could be considered a nerd.

Geek!  Not nerd!

Me too!

Cool to hear you got a history degree.  I took a couple of history courses in school for electives and I enjoyed them very much.

I guess I'm a nerd.  Have you seen my car?  lol   I did take computer classes when they were a keyboard with a printer attached and had no screens whatsoever, but I'm terrible at math and computer programming.  My focus was in literature, composition and creative writing.  I'm big on having the best TV, surround-sound and player possible, but I don't know a lot about how it works.  I'm not a tech geek at all.   Is still think my Ipod I got this year is evidence of reverse engineering alien technology!  ha ha  No, I'm a nerd, not a geek. :p

I built my first computer.

I own an o'scope and two multimeters. I use one at work.

All my pants are the same color and not jeans.

My hobbies are reading sci-fi and going on the internet.

I have a subscription to Popular Mechanics.

I like to hang out in book stores and Radio Shack.

My job has a lot to do with electricity.

Honestly I have had to tape my glasses together.

1.  My last pair of glasses were black framed.
I was reading one of my really thick Trek books and sat on
my glasses and had to tape them together
with duct tape.
When the duct tape did not hold, I used another pair of
glasses (sunglasses) to put together to make a new frame and
held that together with black clay.

2.  My job is working on the computer over 40 hours a week transcribing medical technical reports.  The spare time I have I read trek books, and teach my son about warp engines, however, he at 9 knows more about the matter, antimatter problem and how to create a small robot on his own.  He also suggested using the clay to put my aforementioned glasses together.

3.  I graduated summa cum laude from the University but am now getting my Master's of Divinity from seminary.  My dream is to hold the hand of the sick and dying and the shut-ins and neglected.  Perhaps I can explain the quantum dynamics of warp engines and find a way to compare the mysteries of the universe and fractiles with the stories of the Old and New Testaments, as well as the great work of the Tao.

4.  I have long blonde curly hair, wear halter dresses, particularly 50s style and with my black glasses and sandals could be considered EMO nerd/geek.

So, where I fall on the scale of geek to nerd is questionable.  However, I did overexcel at various geek quizzes listed on several websites.

Hope this helps your initial quandry.  And if you find others like us, please let me know as I'd like to join that colony. :logical:

Nope. I just happen to watch programmes on tv that the ignorant mainstream media consider "nerdy" and "geeky".

I'm an individual, dammit!
