Atlantis started VERY strong, but the writers (or producers) managed to fook it up Royally. If the scripts could have remained strong they should have kept Atlantis on air, although we should still get at least one movie from the show.

Well I actually liked all Atlantis seasons, not saying they did not have some stinker episodes, all shows do.  But everyone has a right to their own taste.

SGU though is not even starting strongly, it has produced some very negative buzz so far and many of the fan base of the two previous shows are upset.  They decided to completely change the show because the producers wanted to get the BSG fan base, but they ignored their established fan base.

In fact the two producers have made numerous public statements that seemed they wanted to insult their previous fan base and also some of the actors in the previous shows.  Not really the best way to lay the foundation for a successful TV show.

Also some people seem to say that BSG was a run away hit, well its numbers in season four were pretty close to what SGA was bringing in.

Don't get me wrong I thought Atlantis was great, it's just that it could have/should have been better.

For me Stargate is second only to Trek, with BSG coming in close after.

agreed. i think the majority of the last season is unwatchable. they didn't do a #### thing the whole season. and how many times is one of the team going to be kidnapped and rescued by the others? seriously?

yeah sorry but bsg was brilliant. and had nothing to do with terminator. terminator was just about bad machines. and our struggle to survive. BSG was about both sides wanting justice without admitting fault of their own and ultimately the resolution came from their working together and placing value in those they had once found deplorable. It was as much about faith and spirituality. Terminator had none of that. BSG wouldn't have been cancelled no matter what network it was on assuming it was the exact same material airing. Who ever said that is retarded. BSG is the best thing to happen to sci fi since star trek. Far fewer crappy episode of bsg than any of the star trek series. Star trek is my first love, but BSG is my refined and dignified current choice. :P

I don't want to be rude here but Stargate Universe is horrible.

I actually liked Stargate SG1. Not as good as Star trek but watchable with good characters. The same for Stargate Atlantis which gave us the series best villains, the Wraith and also have good characters.

But Stargate Universe lacks all that. A bad Voyager rip-off without the good characters Voyager had. The only character  find interesting is Dr. Rush, maybe because of Robert Carlyle's excellent acting. But the others are down right horrible. The so-called captain has as much charisma as a cabbage.

Not to mention the constant bickering.

I gave up on the series after five episodes of constant bickering and arguing among the crew members. For some reasons happened to watch an episode after that when those blue aliens showed up and they were the only interesting in this series so far. If I get an indication that they will show up again, I might watch some episodes again but not if the only "entertainment" is the complaining and arguing among the crew members.

Those who suggest that Voyager should have had more of conflicts between the main characters should watch Stargate Universe. That would make them change their minds.

Once again I'm happy over the high quality of the Star Trek series.

As for Stargate, they should have made some more seasons of Stargate Atlantis and skipped Stargate Universe.

Who'd let that cat in here?

I cannot believe I actually paid $20 for SGU 1.5. I got it 2 or 3 weeks ago and haven't even bothered to open it up. While there are some good episodes in the second half of the season and there are 4 or 5 really, really good episodes overall, I honestly don't want to watch any of them again.

Thinking about it, SGU isn't that good. There are 2 good, solid characters( Rush and Greer) but even they can't save this show. The writing isn't that good, and the stories are just boring. There's no real adventure, very little stargate travel, little less action, and even less aliens.
As I understand it they've nearly finished filming season 2, but MGM is in such bad shape financially I wonder how much longer they are willing to tolerate this show's low ratings, which are only going to get worse since they're moving it from Friday to Tuesday night(along with Sanctuary). They should've continued to do the SG movies instead of SGU. At least those are pretty good.
