I nominate Frank Gorshin, played Bele in "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield". ¿A very well known actor and stand up comic at the time. ¿He played the Riddler in the old Batman TV series. ¿He opened for the Beatles as a comic on their first Sullivan appearance.

If we are including one time appearances what about Joan Collins?

Not sure of her fame at the time .... anyone know? She certainly has the fame now

Nimoy was in stuff too. He is the most popular ST character.

Acknowledged...certainly the most active one of the crew...

Well of course Jeffrey Hunter was very well-known having played Jesus in 'King of Kings' in 1961

That and The Searchers with John Wayne (although I don't think it was as acclaimed when it was released as it became later on, which is included on many "best movies" and most "best western" lists).  He was good in it (and good in Trek as well of course, I always have had a soft spot for the original Pike).

I'm a classic tv fan, and just by watching different shows from the 50's and 60's it definately seems like Kelley was the one (of the main cast anyway) that would have been the most known with the most experience. Still odd for me to see him as the "bad guy" in shows like Rawhide when that's what he was best known for back in the day.

The only correction in Nimoy's listing is that Man From UNCLE should read 1964...as mentioned above, he and Shatner were in the same episode.

:logical:

Yes, 1964, my bad
