So at 79 (my Mom) and 80 (my Da) my parents are still quoting Trek all the time (though mostly TOS to be fair)...

some of you know my Mom is recovering from an accident where she broke her hip and femur. She's in the rehabilitation hospital right now and the first day they put her in the wheelchair she says:

"I feel like Captain Pike"

The other day when I got there I noticed the wheelchair gone and she only has a walker. I inquired and she said:

"It wasn't like anyone could send me to Talos 4, so I figured it was time to get out of that thing!"

Ha ha, good ones! I'll have to tell my father. Glad she's getting better. My father finally escaped the hospital after 2.5 weeks (and a lot of very late nights for me---got to monitor every last thing if you want the essential care) and is in rehab, where he's much happier---not to mention fully conscious. Yesterday he had his first real therapy, and he went to it in a chair, but returned via walker! And today was his birthday---he's 87. It's been a rough ride.

(and before he made his hospital escape some perky young thing came in and asked if she could do anything for him--I'm guessing she was a high schooler doing community service--and he said, "Get me the f**k outta here." Apparently she vanished in a poof and never returned. Somebody should have told him the correct phrase is "Let's get the hell out of here")

I'm glad to hear you Mom is doing well, and I am hoping that everything continues to go well Nyackjohn.

That is cool NJ having parents who are Trek fans. Sorry to hear about your mother though. I hope she has a speedy recovery. :D

I quoted your mother to my father---he got a BIG laugh out of it (and he didn't have to have it explained, either!;) Sends his best to her.

Thanks everyone! She's actually walking with a cane sometimes, instead of a walker, and considering it was a hip replacement less than 3 weeks ago, I'm stunned. ¿Now she just wants to get back to work - she figures she can't stop working at 79 when her boss is over a decade OLDER.

She also does tend to say "Spock to Enterprise" when she opens her cell phone.
