XI Poll: which category are you?

Maybe this will produce a clearer view of the situation. We fans of Trek from before XI fall broadly into two categories: those who are comfortable with XI's new tangent and those who are not. But the struggle between our two groups is drowning out what's really happening among you who, 'til last Spring, had never paid any attention to Trek, yet who then became fans of Trek by XI (the untapped market JJ was gunning for). Your opinions deserve to be heard over the din. While old fans are welcome to post below, I'd really like to hear from new fans how they feel about the timeline issue. Is it the crisis so many old fans think it is?

Fan of Trek from before XI, comfortable with two timelines. It may not be the best way for TREK to go. I think it should prove very interesting to say the least, provided they keep building on what was good.

You forgot a "Hate" category, I hate JJ Abrams Nut-fest movie, I have no problem with two time lines, but the one in Abrams' movie is just so stupid it make no sense, TOS was done right the first time, there's no way this new version will last as long.

It's actually quite easy, but those who expect ice to sink when it melts need not apply.

Those are not "two timelines", they are two realities.

Well since Abrams' and his nut brigade don't know Star Trek or sci fi, any hopes of the sequel being good is diminished. ;)

Long time fan... on the brink of giving up to care about new TREK releases in the future, if they continue to follow the pattern of XI.

I am giving XII a slight chance. But if it is like XI, I am out.

I'm not even going to see XII, all of JJ Abram's movies makes me nauseous, I've had enough of this horrible version of TOS..

You know... call me an optimist, but I will give it a chance, with the hope that the writers will finally mature until the next film, and leave that fanboyish SFX-action-gasm behind them and instead focus on characters.
But that's their very last chance. If XII turns out like XI, I am out and will rejoin once Abrams is finally send to the moon, and a new boss takes over TREK.

How I miss Berman, Coto, Moore, Behr and co.

Personally I think TOS ran it's course, the ONLY way I'd be interested in Star Trek XII is if they do something with TNG,DS9 and Voyager.  :logical:

Personally I think those shows are done too.

Is it really so hard these days to come up with something completely new?

Whatever happened to creativity? Or isn't it taught at movie schools anymore to create something original?

Pardon, but are you not doing a fanfic based on "A Final Unity" yourself?

They tried a new crew with "Enterprise" and when that failed it scared off any more "new crew ideas".
I guess If Star Trek XI was done with a better Director and better writers it could had been good, and if they really wanted to show the beginning of TOS do it in the prime time line with characters like Carol Marcus and Gary Mitchell, even in an alternate time line they could fit,
but what they came up with totally sucks.

This poll doesn't give the option for being new to the franchise and having gone back and reviewed and enjoyed TOS as well as the new stuff.

I want to know why so many people find it impossible to understand that a person can like many different things without making other things wrong :whatthe:
