Actually, I would go as far as to say that Gene Roddenberry would have liked "Insurrection" most of the STTNG films. ?Remember this is a man who fought in WWII AND was a police officer. ?The thought of forced relocation would have been cause for a good fight. ?"Insurrection" is also the most VISUALLY beautiful of the STTNG films. ?Yes, it could have been a two-part episode, but then again some of STTNG's two-part episodes are their best episodes.

As far as "Nemesis", I love the Remans, but the question I have is: Were the Remans already there when the barbaric Vulcans colonized Romulus and then conquered by the new "Romulans" ?or are Remans Romulans that were brought olong as slave labor and their appearance is due to their living conditions??

The idea of Patrick Stewart playing Shinzon is great! ?Stewart definitely could have handled both roles. ?Then the title "Nemesis" actually fits, ?the nemesis trully is HIMSELF. ?The thing that I hate about "Nemesis" is that when Picard is looking at an Academy photo of himself, it is obviously Tom Hardy and he is bald!! ?At 20 Picard was bald!??? ?But when he brought Jack Crusher's body back he had hair????? ?Ridiculous. ?My brother had the thickest hair when he was 20. ?But now at 42 he has the same look as Picard from the series. ?A little continuity, people, that's all I ask.

Very insightful post. I think INS IS the most visually beautiful Trek film to date. It was nice to be outside in a Trek film again(TVH was the last time a Trek film was largely outside.) Breathtaking vistas in that film.

Hey, (*GASP*)I even like the design for the Baku village! INS certainly lacks the strong emotional impact and grandness of other Trek films but I find it a fun little film. I find it enjoyable to watch during it's entire duration. I think the film suffers from being under ambitious(on the other hand TFF is the opposite and is too over ambitious), that's probably it's biggest fault. It never wants to be considered ''great''

I agree, Gene probably would've liked it.

If this is the worst movie you have ever seen in your life, you seriously need to get out more. It may not have been a great Trek movie, but even a mediocre Trek movie is still better than 90% of the other stuff Hollywood puts out.

Oh, Lord...

Seriously?!?

Vger, you're generally a pretty solid poster. So I'm afraid that's gotta be the "TrekNerd" in you talking.

Not that I agree NEM is the worst movie I've ever seen. But now I'm telling you that YOU need to get out more. 'Cause most of Hollywood's output in the years since NEM has been better, not worse, than that wretched excuse of a film.

NEM wasn't just a bad Trek film. It was a bad film. Period.

People who say it gets better with repeated viewings? Well, they're obviously sporting their "TNG can do no wrong"-colored glasses.

Not that that's much of a surprise. I mean, if I were RikersMailbox? I'd say TNG fans are the biggest "fluffers" in the whole of sci-fi fandom.

But I'm much too polite for that.

I don't know man, just different tastes I guess. In many ways, I find INS, GEN, and even TVH to be inferior films to NEM. I always put NEM somewhere in the middle of the pack.

I never found it as objectionable as most other fans did. It was totally bashed by critics and it grossed like 37 cents at the box office, so I'm sure it must have sucked in most people's view...but for some reason I kinda dig it.

The only thing that gets better everytime i watch Nemesis is the sheer comedy of it. The comedy of people who defend this joke of a star trek movie (even by TNG Standards) and yet complain about STXI.

Imagine that people might have a different opinion, different taste than you do...

For me it is actually the other way around. I cannot understand people who did not like NEMESIS, but defeat TREK XI to their death.

But hey... your opinion. I respect it, eventhough I do not share it.

That probably because you're biased toward TNG. They could have all walked out with shit smeared all over their uniforms and you would find a reason why it "worked".

What does this have to do with anything?  It's completely irrelevant.

I hold that the reason NEM did so poorly at the Box Office was due entirely to the fact that INS was so god awful and cheap looking.  After wasting money on that turkey, many people just did want to even give NEM a look.  NEM was not that bad of a film.

2 days till the Blu Ray version arrives.  Take another look at it then.  Based on the other BR releases the FX should look spectacular.

Nemisis is a movie I can watch a lot. Have watched a lot. I enjoy it visually. I often wish I can do stuff like that. Such is life. So I watch it, with popcorn, and dream of the tools they had for the fx. I also dream I know how to use them. Inspiring really. I'm betting there are yungsters who watch it and dream. Probly some will grow up and do. :D     :D
