What's St Elsewhere?

It was a medical drama in the 80's with Denzel Washington, Howie Mandel, Ed Begley Jr. and the guy who did the voice of Kitt the car from Knightrider-At the series finale, it turned out the hospital was just a figurine in a snow globe that an autistic kid(played by Chad Allen) was playing with

Writers in the 80's and early 90's seemed to think this kind of thing was clever, well it would have been even cleverer if they'd actually thought of a good way to end the series.

Didn't "Newhart" end in a way something like that?

I don't think I've heard of that Josh, was it any good?

So I watched this episode for the first time a few hours ago. LOVED IT!!!

Yes, Avery overacts. Especially the last breakdown scene. It went on a little too long. But overacting or not, what he said was true...and resonated. It needed to be said. Plus, I love Avery Brooks regardless.

A great peice of Sci-fi, and TV in general.

My only complaint was Michael Dorn. It seems he's played Worf for so long, that when he played someone else, his acting skills were a bit rusty. I found him very stiff and emotionless, which is a Worf trait. Maybe that's what he was going for, I dunno.

One of the greatest episodes of all time.  Absolutely classic Trek story with great acting all around.

Ever witness someone have a nervous breakdown? :O

It's just like that.
It's like the brain locks and gets stuck on repeat..........but you see in the persons eyes this overwellming look of fear.  Like they know their brain is stuck but that can't figure why they can't stop repeating themselves.

Avery nailed it!

My guess was that Michael Dorn was playing up irony.
He was a celeb.
Notice around his "friends" he was bland and predictable.
However, when he went to meet his "fans".(the young ladies)
Suddenly, he was Mr. Sunshine. ;)

No but I've had "meltdowns" before. Yeah. Pretty much like that. And you pretty well hit the mark about being so totally unable to articulate what exactly is so wrong.
