on the Planet Mintaka III. In the TNG episode, ufologists were observing a proto-Vulcan culture on the planet, Mintaka III. Althought the Mintakins were a bronze age culture of Vulcans, it still would work for primeline Spock and the surviving Vulcans of STXI.

I do not subscribe to the notion that the destruction of Vulcan may be a prelude to reunification with the Romulans. Mintaka III provides both a planet and a species gene pool for the Vulcans to rebuild their race.

Your thoughts!?!!?

And what would they do, destroy an entire culture for breeding stock? Abduct some Mintakans for the same purpose? Both are illegal in the Federation.

Also, we don't even know if the Federation is aware of Mintaka III at that point in its history.

I can envision some Vulcans giving up on their advanced technology, cutting ties with the Federation and living a more "primitive" & simpler life among a proto-Vulcan culture.

the possibility exists for them to settle on the planet, since the mintakins have not explored their entire planet. They could live in relative isolation until such time as they gradually meld with the mintakin people.

Prime Directive issues would prevent them from doing it.

The Mintakins look like Romulans more than Vulcans.

I'm wondering if this would be where Tuvok was from at all...  Dunno if he explained anything about coming FROM Vulcan before it went boom, or if he was one of these proto-Vulcans.  Of course, that was Voyager, not TNG, but it was 24th Century, however.

Tuvok was from Vulcan, it is referenced several times in VOY
