and the STXI Movie?

I only ask because I recently saw the TNG eprisode and became curious at the end of the 2 part episode when Spock decides to stay on Romulus.

My second question would be: did the events of STX happen before or after the TNG Re-unification episode, and what was the timetable between the events of STX and STXI?
