There is no need to restore the timeline, the original crew (with the original actors) have already lived that reality, now we have a whole new reality to watch unfold, why would we want to go backwards...onwards, ever onwards. :logical:

No.  If I fall in love with these characters I don't want to see them lose who they are and what they grew to be.

I can watch the old time line on DVD anytime I want to. I am excited to see the direction this new time line unfolds.

I hope the next movie totally BOMBS so everyone here will forget about "Abrams time line" cuz it makes no sense and sucks.

No.  I like this timeline and it doesn't preclude CBS or Paramount from making future Prime timeline projects if this timeline continues to exist.

The only problem is that the next movie bombing will not alter the fact that this movie was extremely well received critically as well as being financially one of the most successful Star Trek movies ever; even if they never make another good Star Trek film again, this one will always be remembered by the majority of the general populace as being very good. A bad film doesn't make a good film less good.

I'd also be careful what you wish for - if the new movies fail, then that will be the end of Star Trek for the foreseeable future; there isn't anything else to fall back on.

When DJ makes statements like "Ice sinks when it melts," how can you take his "cuz it makes no sense" statement seriously when he has no idea about how the real world works to begin with?

There's nothing to restore...the original timeline still exists unharmed and unchanged. The Abramsverse is a separate timeline from the original.

:logical:

Word.

It would be like saying "I hope they restore the real timeline" after watching "Mirror, Mirror."

It's an alternate universe / timeline / reality...not something that REPLACES or ELIMINATES the original.

Therefore, there's no need to "restore" anything.

I vote yes, because otherwise it all (the Kirk&Spock Trek) just doesn't make sense to me, sorry.
And imo it'd be better if the original timeline is restored not later "when JJ's done", but while he's on it - restored by him.

But I don't insist (because Kirk&Spock Trek doesn't insipre me anyway, sorry).

I wish some other studio took over and made its own variation of reboot with Kirk&Spock No.3 and a third "alternate timeline", and such reboots should happen every second/third year - now that would be so much fun.
(and some would keep repeating "nothing is changed, nothing to restore"...)
