I like it, though why was she supposed to be like that?

Because originally, she would've been around to have been refitted. Or something along those lines.

It's a terrific T.O.S. version of the ship, but the Kelvin wasn't a TOS ship.  In fact, the Kelvin could have been made right after the Earth/Romulan war for all we know.  Remember, they were still using Excelsior class & Miranda class ships, even with minor refits, through the DS9-era.

True, yet the writers of TREK XI stated the Kelvin was a TOS era design. So someone clearly messed up.

Not sure I recall that to be honest.

It doesn't really matter, since what the writers say doesn't matter unless they actually, you know, write it in.

Besides, it clearly isn't a TOS-era ship since Kirk was just barely being born, and the ship already looked like it had been around for quite a while. It was probably from the post-RW era.

It looks upside down with TOS graphics.

:logical:

The way USS Kelvin appears in the new Star Trek movie is the way it is supposed to be but your renderings are very nice !

Actually VAB, just an idea, but if you want to get down to it, and want to make it an interpretation of an early early early TOS ship, then how about giving it the Pilot-Enterprise treatment with the large deflector dish, needle points coming out of the bussard caps, different bridge dome and different and flatter weapons bay.  I'd be interested in how that would look actually.

Here's a screen capture of Kelvin from the movie:

Engineering and deflector dish on top, nacelle on bottom.

Yup, it's weird...

;)

No, i know it's like that but it looks better with the XI design than the TOS one.

Like that you fixed the registry to NCC-514. Why did they put a 0 in front of it?

Very nice, Baxter. I like it.

Reminds me of something you'd see in the Star Fleet Battles universe.
