Haha, that's awesome! I can just try and picture the bike ride and the soundtrack as if it were your own personal soundtrack.

BTW, I think if all of the people who don't like the new movie really think about it, the problem they (and I until now) had with it, is that it wasn't what they (or I) wanted. ?I honestly thought it was going to be one of those "prequel, hey we haven't seen how Kirk really beat the Kobyashi Maru, how did the first crew meet, fill in the gaps in the history kind of thing." It was that and it wasn't because of the obvious alternate timeline thing. We all had expectations of what we wanted the movie to be, and when our expectations dont meet reality it is disappointing. The Shat and Pine are two different actors doing the same role in their own ways. That is ok. ?Nemoy and Quinto are in the same boat along with the rest of the actors. ?We can't look at the movie as if it was going to be the exact same characters played as the originals would have played them just so we can have a movie that fills in the gaps of our trek history.
I really wish there weren't so many ad hominems and so much hatred around here.

Don't knock us for hating the movie my friend, the foolish changes that were made by the writers did nothinng to enhance Trek continuity..If you love it, fine,
I like nothing about it,
we can't depend on this movie filling any "gaps in Trek history" JJ Abrams already rewrote Trek history with his alternate universe crap.
1. Pike commanding Kirks crew.
2. Cadets who are suppose to be in trainning to represent the finest in the Federation beating on a civilian like a bunch of street thugs.
3. The horrendous Spock/ Uhura fling, serves no purpose.
4. The destruction of Vulcan. ?
5. Where's Kirks brother, Sam. Where's T'pring ? oh I forgot they weren't necessary.

You can have Abrams' version, pal..I'll stay with the real thing. ?;)

You admit that the movie takes place in an alternate universe so how is Trek history being rewritten when the events of the movie don't even occur in the prime universe?

 ?

That's just it, genius.. alot of the things in the movie DID NOT happen in the prime universe,
1. On Kirks first mission McCoy and Chekov were never there
2. Pike was never in Command of Kirks first crew, etc etc,
If you like this, fine, but most of the changes does not fit in Star Trek's establish continuity.

Jim, you've got to get over the "established continuity" thing.

The whole thing is a NEW Star Trek timeline/universe.

This movie didn't change any of your DVD's...

In theory only. In practice, since we are not gonna see any more of the original universe, the original universe is replaced by the new one.

No, that is incorrect. Our 1st ST universe still exists...

We just get to see a new one.

Perhaps I wasn't clear enough: we are not going to see the 1st universe ever again, although it continues to exist. This means that it's practically dead.

On that I actually agree. If we ever see the prime universe again it will be many many years from now.

I really wish they'd go back to the prime universe.

I think it's goofy and ridiculous, I think Abrams destroyed the integrity of Star Trek, I'll stay with my TNG and Voyager DVD's.. Okay. ?;)

Right on D.J. You are in very good company with your viewpoint. And I can tell your view comes from a deep place and is incredibly important.

There is a multitude of like minded StarTrek universe citizens who see perfectly what you're saying that has or could happen because of this change in the 'stars'. They feel it deeply just as you do. They "get" it the way you do. The purity of StarTrek universe would/will be/is deminished by this 2009 movie.

D.J., keep your StarTrek universe as 'real' and in exactly the way that drives & motivates & pleases you. It is commendable and admirable that you have stood strong to defend and protect the StarTrek universe.

Please know, DJ, that although it's not for me, I "get" it. I do ''get" it. And I absolutely support that it IS for you. Take it your way, fly with it your way... I'll be proud to watch you soar!

Yes, thanks friend, you have a very positive and uplifting attitude, we need more of that around here..
Live long and prosper ! ¿ :D ¿:logical:

lol hey DJ he's just stroking your ego. lmao.

I'm afraid my reaction was the reverse. I quite enjoyed it the first 2 times even though I thought there were big faults, but the third time, those faults were just even more obvious. The childishness of the script and lack of anything other than superficial shoot em ups and undergrad relationships stood out even more.
