Oh, and wrt Mr. Cameron, there is no way, imo, that this guy could ever be afraid of angering JJ or any other studio exec. He has so much clout, based on the Terminator, the Abyss, Titanic, and Aliens. And he's definitely not afraid to speak his mind. He wouldn't endorse McG's Terminator movie before he'd seen it (and I don't recall him saying anything about it after it was released. I think his silence speaks to his opinion) and he publically ripped on the LA Times Kenneth Turan over his negative review of Titanic.
If he actually disliked ST XI, he would've said so in the interview with Geoff Boucher. On the contrary, this accomplished director praised the film.

| Quote (axilmar1 @ Aug. 18 2009, 2:07 am) | | While there is a remarkable amount of viewers that liked the movie, there is also a significant amount of viewers that did not like the movie. I would not put it in the 95%-5%, more like in the 70%-%30. That does not say anything really. The criticism is valid. The movie is not good either from a sci-fi point of view or an artistic point of view. It's just that the audience has been brainwashed to accept sub-standard material. |
Wow, another member who thinks their thoughts are the universal truth! I thought the liking and disliking of movies was a subjective experience? That is why all movie review shows have more than one reviewer on them. It's fine that you didn't like the movie, but when a person starts acting like their opinion should be the final and correct assessment of a film I think they are letting their ego get in the way of the reality that movie are subjective. When you start saying people who like this movie have been brainwashed that is they same type of crap that BrianH May is pulling. What if I said anyone who didn't like this movie lacks the ability for dimensional thinking because they never developed past the eight grade? That would be just as wrong as what you do. Tell us you didn't like the movie, tell us why you didn't like the movie, but to make sweeping statements about why people did like the movie is just wrong and makes you look like a fool.
