The hats have been commissioned, the model just has to pass final inspection.

Dark blue--only nowhere on the net or anywhere in 5 catalogs could we match the hat style perfectly.

Guess I could just post a pic of a completed one, if anyone's interested.

Me too.

I wonder if the caps they wore were a specific type (not baseball caps) that can be googled. Do any military organizations wear hats like that?

I have one of the originals that they sold at the "Star Trek Experience". I don't want to wear it any more because you can't get them (Should have bought a few of them, they were only $15). BDU style cap in black with the NX logo on the front and "ENTERPRISE" on the back.

I just googled BDU caps and they don't look like the same shape as NX-01 hats.

A real BDU cap is flat on top. Look at the picture I posted of the NX-01 hat and you will see that the front of the cap is BDU style, but the back is not, giving the effect of a rounded top. Yes, I know, the cap they used in the series seems to be a black fitted baseball cap (high quality too) with the red & white NX-01 stitched on the front. As I said, I bought my cap from "The Star Trek Experience Store" in Las Vegas (via mail order). It's not fitted, it's a one size fits all BDU cap with the strap in the back. But what's really cool about it is that they have "Enterprise" stitched in the back in the same red and white lettering. I still like it, even though the shape of the hat is very military (hence BDU). I found a place that sells it but it's not $15 any more.

you may be absolutely right--I did try searching for just hats, since the shape isn't technically a six-panel baseball (which is what I got, only it's a "low-ride" so it doesn't look like an ordinary baseball cap either)

on the show there's a panel in the front, then panels running from front to back.

no flat top.

I thought the stitch pattern of the one on the show looked like some running caps I've seen (though it doesn't look like the running caps).

I don't have "Enterprise" going on the back. I should be able to approve the sample stitch pattern this week, and she'll take the order then.

...That doesn't look so much like the show, though--the NX-01 is bigger, and the hat shape is different...

Maybe they never DID sell ones constructed just like in the series!

I just saw this guy on an old episode of the Graham Norton Show on BBC America. He redid the interior of his apartment to recreate ST.

grigori - I think you're right. It's a runner's cap. This one is not exactly the same but I can see the resemblance way more than a baseball or BDU cap.

swell - NOW you've found it! maybe I'll run that by the sports store before making the final order. (bet runner's caps cost more...!;)

but that is DEFINITELY the correct stitch pattern.
