Actually, Vger23 made an interesting post on page 1. I agree, if in the AU Sybok was banished as a young student and he survived the attack he could make an interesting topic for the next movie.

Never thought about this before, but I vote Sybok to appear on ST2012.

You're saying you DON'T see the logic in that? What else is a banished Vulcan going to do for Pon Farr?

Hey, I liked Sybok, at least he was an original concept protagonist...would have been a great one had they actually had gotten Sean Connery to play the part...we probably would have gotten those rock monsters too!!!

Not to derail the thread but aren't most Vulcans vegan, or at least strict vegetarians?

Interesting point regarding Sybok....This is an old argument. I dunno how much credence it has. However, In the Star Trek Chronology book. It has an interesting sidenote to Star Trek V:The Final Frontier. It lists that Roddenberry himself considered much of what happened in that movie as "Apocryphal". I never followed up on that perspective. So it might just be that Sybok...."Never existed". Just maybe.

Yes. That's a good thought. Maybe Spock finally picks up some kind of telepathic feeling that Sybok still exists - like a rerun of ST3-TSFS - but this time The Search For Sybok.

I reckon there is definitely a book idea (if it hasn't already been done) in there even if not a TV film/movie.

It would be a very Vulcanian focused story as Spock returns (perhaps alone) to find his half-brother (or just his katra residing elsewhere).

Definitely an interesting premise ...

I totally think they should bring Sybok into the new films. I would love that, except I do admit they have exceeded the alternate timeline enough already.

With one movie? I believe in second chances. The haters should wait for the sequel and see if is more valuable to them. But that means walking into the theater with an open mind. That said, maybe the nacelle pylons can be straightened and the bussard collectors reddened so I don't set myself on fire there in the theater and scream "Death to the infidels!"

>As to Sybok, he was no doubt exiled at that point and living off Vulcan. With so few Vulcans left and facing hard times, it would be interesting to see Sybok enter the picture, see the contrasts between Sarek and both his sons.

Like that idea.  Perhaps Sybok would pull the old "rogue missionary" card, join the remaining Vulcans and try to sway them to accept his unorthodox views on Vulcan Logic.

If I remember Star Trek V correctly Sarek's first wife was a Vulcan princess, Sybok I assume was born the year following their marriage; as Vulcans get married upon the onset of their first Pon'far (spelling?) I think Sarek was in his early 20's.  Now I'm not sure what happened to Sarek's first wife, maybe she died during child-birth or afterwards.

Sarek was later assigned an ambassadorship to Earth, he lived there for many years and "fell in love" with Amanda Grayson and they got married, soon after Spock was born.  Based upon the 7 year Vulcan mating cycle it is reasonable to assume that Sybok is at least 7 years older than Spock.

I'm not that fimiliar with Sarek's personal history so please fill in the blanks if you notice any.
