Hello, I recently bought Star Trek armada on Ebay but I have been having problems running it on my windows XP computer, even when using compatibility wizard.

I am just wondering if anyone knows of a patch or another way to get the game to run smoothly on windows XP?

Try this site.

Look for the SUPPORT link below, click on it, and then you should be taken to a page that has a list of FAQs and the patch as well.

Good luck!

To run Armada on an XP computer. One get rid of service packs 1-2-3 and get rid of DX 8 and above. Armada comes with DX 7 and will run fine on the origenal XP.

I suggest you get a copy of Partition Magic and make a partition on your hard drive. install XP the first edition and when you install Armada use the DX that comes with it.

It was! Sometimes I am tempted to just go out and by an old Comp so I can load up those old games.

i loved armada. i had the same problem with 3 computers not playing it correctly and finally i got a brand new one with 160gb hd and 1 gb of memory and it plays fine. i know that may not have anything to do with it but every computer i had below 1 gb of memory it wouldnt work correctly. ive also heard it may have something to do with a graphix card. but again im not a master at computers thats just what experience ive had trying to play the game. i may be wrong, but thats what i thought was the problem.

Like stated above xp was a walking hazard to games like armada. i have managed to get it to run on xp like said before stripping ur computer. if your gonna partition just to make another xp clean install you might as well make it for windows 7. yea windows 7 like most has its own set of problems, but its more stable! Also if you wanted to play it online then most players are on win7 because of the fearful OOS!. I dunno how old this post is but will give u details for playing armada online.

For online play, won servers are no longer supported o joy. So we use Game ranger, which is a free small program and is able to host armada as well as other games. I'll walk you threw online play.

-Google, Game Ranger (not hard to find)
-Download, install, register.
-run and connect and you will shown a list of games
-click on the top bar community
-click: search user
-Enter acct ID: 1221160
-That's me, and i will try help out with any other issues.

Note: Armada does not need to be installed to run game ranger.

o my bad so the fix is this .. on xp go to start menu, run type in dxdiag load it up. go to sound tabs(note there is 2) set hardware acceleration to 0 (it should be a sliding tab) that fixes sound. for gfx issues armada loved ati, but hate nvidia you want to be running in 256 colours. other things that may fix it are 60hz screen refresh rate or lowering the screen display rate to something like 800x600 in game.
