What is this, a toy or a model? By who? I'd buy that sucker.

I have to admit one thing though...whoever commented on the ship being "out of scale" was right I think. If you look at the sizes of the shuttle births, and then you look at the sizes of the windows...ugh...it doesn't look right.

Whatever though, it's a cool toy / model anyway...!

Even though I dislike the STXI NCC-1701 for many reasons, that is a beautiful model.

When a hobby model becomes available, I'm sure someone will come out with a lighting kit. If you don't know the source (there's a common one, but I don't remember as I'm not into doing it), I'm sure VAB could tell you.

A little money and a lot of time and you'll have it. You'd probably be more proud of doing it yourself, anyway.

:)

I guess the build it yourself model is coming out in either November or December.

I am all thumbs when it comes to model building but either I will try it myself or hire someone to do it for me. :)

I haven't heard of a model kit as of yet, although i'd be bore interested in the Kelvin or the Jellyfish myself.

There is a model kit coming. ?I believe it's even been mentioned here.

It is being produced by Round 2 and will be released sometime late next year.

Read more here (including scale and box art info.)

http://trekmovie.com/2009....reviews

Oh, by the way, there is a 1:350 Version of the original Enterprise coming out in 2011! ¿The 1:350 Refit has been re-released (the first one I bought a few years ago happened to be of the rare and collectable blue mold variety.)

Round 2 recently aquired Polar Lights and I believe AMT/Ertl, so a lot of Trek kits are being re-released or will be released. ¿They are the saviors of the Trek modeling community for sure.

Do you know the name of the company and a link that produces those light and sound kits for Trek models? I know I've seen it on these boards.

The company is polar lights some kits are lighted others are not.

Here is a website that sells them:

Voodoo FX does light and sound kits but they are expensive.

You can buy just the circuit boards for less and supply your own leds. Or you can make your own circuit boards for real cheap. Also can find some stuff on ebay.

Polar Lights just produces the molds though.  The lights and what not have to be purchased through an aftermarket company like Don's Light and Magic or some place like that.  There is a ton of official and after market stuff here: http://www.federationmodels.com/
