I do do it with dignity, show me where I said. YEAH! DIS MOVEE WUZ THE SUCKZ!!!" I did way over do it on my first thred ending it with some words which I should of held back for that I appolegise, But for the rest of the post I stand by it.

I didn't say you didn't "do it with dignity." I said that posting thoughtless one-liners wasn't going to get you anywhere.

If you do any ONE thing, recognize that your opinion is just that, YOUR OPINION. Making blanket statements about how something is clearly inferior (especially when all performance indicators indicate otherwise) and framing it like a TRUTH is not the way to do it.

For example, I dislike Star Trek IV. I just don't dig it for a number of reasons. But, when I DO talk about it (which, I don't very often because why would I want to talk about something I don't care for...?), I am respectful and I always make sure everyone knows that I fully recognize that this was clearly a well-liked and popular movie, and my tastes simply aren't aligned for whatever reason.

Otherwise, you're just going to be viewed as one of these other 3 or 4 idiots out here who run off at the mouth with stupidity and negativity every chance they get.

You will notice when I make a comment I do make it clear it is my opinion, unless the thred requiers otherwise. I see you are getting a little pissed at me, but I felt insulted by this film and need to let others know, I really don't like the story, I realy find it poorly written, this is what this thred is about, is it not.

Not "pissed," just trying to get some logic and rationality into a conversation that is clearly driven by your emotions and disappointment than anything else.

How can you be "insulted" by a 2-hour movie? That makes no sense. I suppose if you allow yourself to feel that way, then so be it...but really?

Also, why do you think that you "have to let people know" how you feel? Why, exactly? What purpose does that serve? It will only do one of two things:

1. It will conjure up people like me, who will challenge your thought process and make you even more frustrated.
2. It will conjure up other people who are going to post random negativity as well, and then you can feel like you're not all alone in your disappointment.

I suppose if you're looking for some like-minded people to provide affirmation and mutual support, that's okay. I just don't see why it matters, and I CERTAINLY don't understand how you can expect and hope for #2 happening without realizing that #1 is also sure to happen.

What is not Rational about not liking this film, I liked terminator #1-2 but not #3, are you saying if I don`t like #3 I`m not rational.

No, I'm saying your expression of your reasons is not rational.

Get this straight: I could care less whether or not you liked the movie. Your opinion doesn't affect me, nor does it impact the future of the film franchise. I am sorry you didn't enjoy it, but I don't really care either way. I got what I wanted, and there's lots more to come. I have no reason to be upset.

I'm simply trying to show you that your reasoning is flawed. I have no problem with your opinion. We all have them, and that's part of what makes the world go round. It's your rationalization for WHY you feel that way that I challenge.

I am a Shatner fan, but a realist. ST V was more or less TJ Hooker meets tek wars meets tired old cliche script with no regard to fandom or ST canon... USS Enterprise A has 72 decks... ??? etc. etc.

Bill needed to be more into Trek when he took on that project. But it occurs to me he never will be into Trek. It was just a job 45 years ago. And a meal ticket in the movies. If it weren't for screen time and $$$ I doubt he would have raise a fuss at all about not being in ST XI...

And I am a fan of his.

I would rather have an actor starring in STAR TREK, than a fan starring in STAR TREK. Shatner was totally committed to the job of being an actor in the series and the movies, which the central character needed. Having a knowledge or affection for the material was (and is) irrelevant. Shatner delivered the goods, albeit in a hammy way. He never winked at the audience in his TREK years like, "can you believe I actually get PAID for this?". And I do believe he liked the idea of playing a hero. Any movie, not just STAR TREK V, that has the actor both starring AND directing is on very shakey ground, to start with. VANITY projects are NOT made for audiences .... whether they be STAR TREK or otherwise.
