Does the alien at the end who goes back to the "monster" because he is tricked again or because he wants to go back?

I had the impression he was obsessed with hunting down the creature, so he wanted to go back. The Doctor compared him to Captain Ahab in Moby Dick.

It actually could have been both. The alien was determined to destroy the creature due it killing his family, but the creature could of again tricked him into thinking that there was a way to destroy it which was false. So he wanted to kill it, but he could of been going back into another trap.

Agree! He had nothing else to live for, as far as he was concerned it was his purpose in life now.

If he really wanted to hunt the creature he should have accepted Voyagers help when 7 of 9 offered to fix his ship after they all escaped. If the alien was honest with 7 of 9 maybe she would have helped him on his quest to destroy the creature...

He didn't want to hunt it, he wanted it dead. He was so obsessed with it he couldn't sit around waiting getting his ship repaired while it was getting away. ¿That's the point about obsession, it overrides your better judgement. ¿Remember Janeway in "Equinox" or Sisko and Eddington in "For the Uniform"? Read or rent Moby Dick........especially w/ Patrick Stewart. Other forms are The Punisher & Charles Bronson in "Deathwish".
