If he really wanted to hunt the creature he should have accepted Voyagers help when 7 of 9 offered to fix his ship after they all escaped. If the alien was honest with 7 of 9 maybe she would have helped him on his quest to destroy the creature...

He didn't want to hunt it, he wanted it dead.

He was so obsessed with it he couldn't sit around waiting getting his ship repaired while it was getting away. ¿That's the point about obsession, it overrides your better judgement. ¿Remember Janeway in "Equinox" or Sisko and Eddington in "For the Uniform"?

Read or rent Moby Dick........especially w/ Patrick Stewart.
Other forms are The Punisher & Charles Bronson in "Deathwish".
