I think Abrams and the writers will do something a bit different with the future sequels

I think Spock and Uhura will be in a relationship but the villian of the movie, maybe Khan, will kill Uhura and her death will drive Spock close to insanity but Kirk and McCoy will save Spock from loosing his mind and Uhura's death will bring Kirk, Spock and McCoy closer together

This is not directed to any of my fellow trekkies.

No. I'm tired of the writers and producers of Star Trek killing off a major character. Since the death of Spock, Star Trek has gotten happy with killing off major characters to either shock and awe us or trying to make a series ending more dramatic. Killing of a major character should be a rare event, not when a movie comes out and you have a star trek pool to see who gets axed. And I you should kill off a major character, make me stand up and say if I had to go THAT's the way to go out. Good grief. Get more creative. I would actually like to see some of our favorite characters retire and enjoy old age. More positive things other than how can I make trekkies get all choked up and cry. Unless there is a major out cry of fans to take out a real annoying character or villian, limit killing off a major character until 7 to 10 years has past. Write some real material to end a series or movie for a change.

I don't think that'd be a good idea. I wouldn't want to see it, anyway. Besides, just like ServalanFan said, she's an icon. And there has to be at least one female.

I wouldn't be THAT harsh, Rad, but...

:logical:

I know I should have been nicer about it.

I just don't see the point of killing off a character that has so much potential....

If the writers/producers wanted to truly alienate long time fans they could kill Uhura. This is probably the most ridiculous suggestion I have seen in my entire time on these boards.

Rather than killing Uhura, we need to bring Gaila (Orion Girl) in and give her a more prominent role, then we would two females as leads, that would be great and would sure beat playing up, say, Nurse Chapel. Make the Bridge crew really cosmopolitan (in ther literal sense of the word).

Also, I think enough characters were killed off in STXI to last us quite some time.

She is a beautiful girl and could make a really fun character who has an alien/outsiders view of human emotions and interactions. I think she would be great (plus she is shaped like a woman as opposed to Zoe Saldana, who isn't)

And just think of the possibilities if they ever did go the R rated route!

Orion girls have that effect, yes. I just think she rocks PG or R

Oh and I don't have to think of the possiblities, I read Fanfiction remember?

Perhaps they can have a woman as head of security or something like that.

The tried that once. ¿It did not work out too well. ¿Remember T. Yar's very brief career?

Poor Tasha, I loved her  :(

You make that sound like Tasha was killed off because the character was bad  :O
