So, who likes the new Star Trek movie? I did enjoy it, but could have been better.

I enjoyed it immensely. Sure it is not perfect and there are few small details for that I would have changed but all in all it was a great Star Trek movie!

I like the movie is about as honest as I can get. :honorable:

EDIT:

IMO its the best of the bad movies AND the worst of the good movies.

I really enjoyed it.  I'm not expecting a lesson on life from it.  Then again that's not why I watch Star Trek.

Better than most Trek from the past 13 years.  Not the best thing in Trek, but definitely a worthy entry as SB63 said it best.

Didn't like it. Felt too TRANSFORMERS-like for me, aiming at a totally different audience which is all in for CGI and action, whereas most TREK always focused on characters and drama.

Might have been a solid Sci-Fi movie, if it was not labeled STAR TREK.

I liked it. It has some flaws like Spock with Uhura don't seem right. :bugout:
The scope of the film is awesome. I like Leonard Nimoy's role was great. It
give it a funny part and good part of the movie. To bad it don't have William
Shatner in it. The special effects and the character were true to Star Trek.

That's very well put Bax.

My #1 son and I were discussing it (again) last night (our housemate has learned to tune out when T and I start on this subject    ). And he said that there are so many things in it that should make him hate it, but he loves it anyway.

I made the point that, for me, it continues the tradition of Star Trek (in all it's forms) that it transcends it's shortcomings because of the obvious love that has gone into making it.

The cast of the new movie are so obviously having such a wonderful time, that it draws us into their Universe; that is what Star Trek has always done, and the new movie does it in spades.

Somewhere between "It's OK" and "I Love it", overall closer to I love it.  I certainly liked it alot, but it isn't my favorite.  Maybe #5 on my list of Trek movies (I like all of the Trek movies in one way or another, so I certainly don't intend that as an insult).

What I do love is the impact this film has had on Trek fandom.  I've seen more new people in the last few months get interested in Star Trek (the original Trek, the movies, TNG, all of it) then I have for a really long time.  Things are looking alot better for the franchise now then they were just a year ago.

I enjoyed it tremendously. It was not the BEST Star Trek movie, but it was definitely an upper-tier Trek movie. It was the first Trek since TSFS that made me feel like I was watching REAL classic Star Trek again.

For me, it ranks 3rd on the all time list, after TWOK and TSFS (tied with TMP).

I just call it how it is honestly.

IF you think about which movies are considered the worst  TREK movies by the fan base it goes like this:(I dont personally agree with it though)

in order good to terrible:

TREK XI
GEN
INS
NEM
TFF

On  the other side we have from Great to good:

TWOK(should be much lower)
FC
TVH
TUC
TMP
TSFS

and thats how it goes...
