There's only one great captain..that's Jean luc Picard, he set the standard.

How could he set the standard if he wasn't in the first series, "Star Trek." Oh, yeah, that was James T. Kirk, wasn't it? The guy that even Picard and Sisko were in awe of. The guy who pulled Picard's fat out of the fire in GEN, saving an entire star system and the crew of the ENT-D because Picard couldn't take down one mad scientist by himself. Picard needed Kirk to fight his battle and Kirk ended up dying because of that.

As much as GEN is a crap movie, it did indisputably show one thing (despite producer Rick Berman's intent) Kirk >> Picard.

A more worthy successor to Kirk was probably Sisko, who asked for Kirk's autograph. Even Janeway considered Kirk a legend.

Obviously, based on all the evidence in TNG, GEN, DS9, and VOY, Kirk was the guy who set the standard, not Picard. Hell, Janeway was promoted to Admiral before Picard.

My answer to that is Chancellor Martok, formerly, General Martok, of the I.K.S. Rotarran.

His command and leadership was one that helped win the Dominion War. Also his style made him very popular in the Empire, not only in the Defense Force, but in the civilian population as well.

Proof in case: He took the worst ship in the Empire and made it into one of the best. He then used the Rotarran as his flag ship, even after being promoted to Supreme Commander.

The question is favorite STAR TREK captain. To me that means anyone is Star Trek, not just the five series captains... Or am I wrong here?

So, let’s see someone other than Kirk, Picard, Sisko, Janeway, and Archer...
