"I'm gonna knock you on your ass". We have a Winner!!!

Imo, "Warp Five!!!" is a better one. :)
Maybe it's only my own impression, but I think there was some special feeling of excitment the characters had about the ship's new speeds. That excitement rubs off on me every time they bring it up, like a genuine feeling of adventurous exploration (men are boys LOL). In the other series, speeds, though much higher, don't bring up the same feeling of excitement, so "[/b]Warp Five!!![/b]", pronounced in some kind of awe, soulds like the best "motto" for ENT. :D

you're probably right. but I was having fun.

i noticed some chatter earlier about Battlestar Galactica 2004. ? i get called a 'basher' or 'critic' on ENT, but i must say i'm a flat out gusher on BSG and you can't talk sense to me about it. ?i admit it.

 Andy, did you see the ratings for BSG?

what? ?i should rate my own liking for something in terms of outside non-essentials like ratings data? ? i'm not here to argue or defend BSG. ?I personally loved every frame of it that was ever shot, and that's all I'm concerned with. ?

based on this, since i'm a mindless gusher on BSG, i'm more than content to let gushers on ENT have their bon-bons too. it's when they seek me out and call me a philistine for engaging in a talk about ideas, that i get a little testy. ?I used to argue about BSG, but the love-hate among general fandom on that show is much more intense than ENT.

glad I'm on ENT then!

I like to think I can be an ENT gusher for the same reasons, without having to defend canon, ratings, etc.

But I also like to think I can like ENT without losing my critical acumen, so it doesn't hurt to engage in talk about ideas, including other people's. That's why THIS thread: talk about the show itself, what was actually IN it, NOT how it fit into the bigger picture, which tends to bring with it the bulk of the criticism.

I just would not like  "detractors" to use it as some log for their fire (but of course they willl do it anyway  )

No, I didn't mean that was you, anderbilt. But some others do say those hypocritical things and even strongly believe in them...

Even though I wasn't a fan of the random series finale, I think the show as a whole was pretty good. When making a prequel, it is difficult because you can accidentally mess up something from "canon" - which I always thought was funny because it is all fiction anyway. Overall though, I think they did a good job exploring Vulcan culture and Andorians as well. Captain Archer was a bit too grumpy sometimes for his own good, but overall I thoroughly enjoyed the show. Sure it isn't pristine, but it's television and nothing is perfect. It IS only a show at the end of the day.

PICARD was No.1 grumpy! he often looked hung-over. Besides, I don't think Archer got laid as often as Picard.
Then there was the whole Xindi guilt thing we've been discussing. In fact, Archer seemed to feel guilty about all kinds of stuff all the time.

True. It took him a while to stop calling Wesley Crusher "The Boy".  :)

Couldn't have said it better myself - I liked the prequel concept - starting in the pilot when Malcolm explains that phasers have two settings and it is best not to confuse them. Of course, I am just happy the books undid TATV - and I don't dwell on that.

But I just roll with shows I like - and given how all the ST shows had little contradictions and canon mistakes and retcons, I hardly got my knickers in a twist over the ones on Enterprise.  And I liked the darker tone at times - and loved the scary episodes.

As for Picard, he was a stiff the first few seasons and gradually loosened up just a bit - but never too much.

I love Enterprise because we were introduced to Dominic Keating and Connor Trinneer, two excellent and underappreciated actors--and Reed and Tucker, two great Starfleet officers.

...and I don't like the lame and pointless TNG episode in the last ep slot on the last disc of my ENT Season 4 DVD set!

Hey, Serit, you've got the DVD's: did you notice that the numbering of the episodes on Season 1, Disc 4 on the actual on-screen menu was switched? the numbering, but not the episode order? (Shadows of P'Jem actually does come after Sleeping Dogs)

the episodes appear in the correct place on the menu, but not the numbers!

This is a good thread. Bumping it up so we don't lose it. Maybe some newbies would like to post to it.

I thought Enterprise got much better towards the end with the introduction of the 2-3 parts episodes. Really is sad how it got killed as it got better.

I like Enterprise because it provides a Star Trek that is more realistic in the sense that the viewer can picture themselves in that storyline and time frame. The crew, ship, military alignment, actions, responses bring to mind today's NASA, military, and ongoing news reports from our military zones. The only difference is the alien culture that Enterprise meets.

Another reason is the way character development and relationships are handled. Some of the most mature friendships are depicted in this series, ones that reflect the very real relationships I have in my own life.

A final reason is the way stories are handled, with hard choices, difficult consequences, emotional upheaval, loyalty, pain, triumph, humor....all very human and all part of our own lives on a daily basis....making ENTERPRISE one of the most accessible to its audience in seeing themselves in the same situations. All with the engaging promise of being in space, AND some of the best actors ever in the Star Trek franchise.
