I only saw ST4 maybe just 3, 4 times, but there's a conundrum in the movie that always bothered me: how is it that Kirk and company can utilize their Bird-of-Prey for time travel, when the original Klingon crew didn't know how? I mean, what's preventing any Klingon crew from discovering that their ships might have time-travel capabilities in the first place?

Kirk used the Bird of Prey to "slingshot" around the sun, an effect discovered in "The Naked Time" and used later in "Tomorrow is Yesterday" and "Assignment: Earth". So while the Bird of Prey is physically able to survive the process, it's highly unlikely Starfleet would have told the Klingons how to time travel, since the two powers were very hostile towards one another. And, presumably, the Bird of Prey now rests under the Golden Gate Bridge or in a Starfleet Shuttle Bay for inspection - so the Klingons won't be seeing any sensor data.

I don't if anyone else noticed, but in the new movie the drill-head from Nero's ship crashes into the bay at almost the exact spot that the The Bounty does.

You make a good point lostshaker. But that's what I find unusual about episodes with time travel. It feels that the TOS crew were the only ones who knew how to perform it lol.
I'm also stumped as to how their feat was unnoticed by the Klingons once the Bounty returned to the present time, (I assumed by then Klingons realize their ships have a certain...ability that might give them an edge...meh.) Btw, mirrorgirl that was a good observation about Nero's ship. I guess that Romulans are the other species that know how to muck up the timeline :/

Maybe the Klingons do know about time travel, they just don't have the desire to do it. Maybe in their minds time travel and "fixing things" is underhanded and dishonorable. At the end of the day, the Klingons hope to prove themselves in battle. They don't put much stock in science and medicine. It all goes to the warrior class.

Exactly what I was going to say. I believe it's a matter of honor, not one of ignorance. You simply can't have a song written about how your conquests were made through time travel rather than a blade.
